The holiday season just passed. My husband and I tried to get my adult children fun gifts, and gifts they wouldn’t expect. We also gave them some practical gifts. For example, we gave our daughter some lanterns and batteries for her apartment. Her and her roommate didn’t so much as have a flashlight, let alone much else. In addition, they don’t even have any batteries. We told her that lighting and batteries, especially in the event of a blackout, are vital. They cannot rely on their phones for light because eventually their phones will die out and if there is no power, there is no way to charge them.
I also tell both my kids to keep flashlights in their cars just in case, but do they? Nope. Of course not. Sigh…
Having a light source is vital for anyone whether you live alone, with roommates or your family.
Our family once lost power for three days after a bad storm. We’re so used to having the parking lot lights illuminate our home at night that is was a shock to have complete darkness when night came around. TOTAL DARKNESS. Thankfully we have light sources and extra batteries.
Let me introduce you to a light source that is not only convenient, but it can also be powered by the sun in the event you are unable to charge it (it can be charged via an outlet too).
Solight is the first solar powered inflatable lantern that can be used for a light source or as a way to set ambiance in a dark area, such as your backyard. Solight can even provide your phone with a full charge, making it a must have in care of emergencies, or even when you are camping.
I was sent one to review. I received the brand’s Mega Puff version.
Below is a photo of the Solight I received in two different settings (bright on top, warm light on the bottom).
When it comes to the term “inflatable,” I don’t mean you need to fill them with air. What it means is that they light flat (a great space saver!), but can be “inflated” (puffed up) when used. To “inflate” a Solight, simply twist and pull and it pops up into a perfect square. When you no longer need it simply push and twist and the Solight will lie flat again.
Because of it’s size when flat, a Solight can be taken on-the-go in your luggage, backpack, tote bag, gym bag and even in your car.
These are so lightweight too.
Solight is available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Most are square, but they do offer a more elegant shape called QWNN.

Charging side, power button, power indicator, handle.
I charged my Mega Puff from an outlet. It was too overcast outside (and raining) to get a suitable charge.
I love the design of the Mega Puff. It’s simple but it has a texture-like look to it (if that makes sense) that I really like. Not only that, the version I have can change colors. This would be great for an outdoor party, “Glamping,” and other situations.
This puts out A LOT of light. I was pleasantly surprised. It illuminated my entire living room. If we have a blackout we wouldn’t need candles (which are dangerous) or multiple flashlights to illuminate the living room (where we all tend to gather during a blackout), instead all we need is one solar powered (or charged from an outlet) Solight.
There is even an emergency option where you can make the it blink a red light to get someone’s attention for help.
Mine doesn’t charge colors (except for warm white, bright, red and blinking red), but the mutlicolor versions of Solight can.
Solight also has a built in handle making them easy to tote around, as well as to hang them up.
I love that Solight emits so much light, and that it can be charged via the sun. This is a must have for any emergency situation. I want to get one for each of my kids, my husband and myself to keep in our cars. They would be essential in the event their cars breakdown at night. I also want to get another one for my daughter for her apartment, as well as an additional one for my home to have more than one to use around our home.
These would make a great gift too!
You can also donate a light to various charities. You can learn more about that on the brand’s website.

What do you think about Solight? Does it sound like a “must have” product you need in your home? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
