I love going to the movies. It’s my favorite “date night” activity to do with my husband. Occasionally our kids tag along, but they are young adults now with jobs and significant others, so they tend to go to the movies on their own more often.
Even though my husband and I are technically “adults,” we still enjoy going to see “kiddie movies” as well as ones geared towards us grown-ups.
Here are a few upcoming movie releases that I am super excited about.
Ralph Breaks the Internet
I went on a press junket to L.A. for the first film, Wreck-It-Ralph. I LOVED the film. We have it on Blu-ray and I pop it in often. We even watch it when we see it on television. It’s just an overall fun movie.
I was thrilled when I heard there was a sequel in the works. That sequel is Ralph Breaks the Internet. It’s scheduled to be released in theaters on November 21, 2018.
In Ralph Breaks the Internet, video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a place Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had. Directed by Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) and Phil Johnston (co-writer “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Zootopia,” writer, “Cedar Rapids”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt,” “Lilo & Stitch”).

Fun! I can’t wait to see it.

Mary Poppins Returns
I LOVE the classic Disney film Mary Poppins! I know all the songs by heart. It’s one of my all-time favorite films.
I was a bit surprised to hear that they were making another Mary Poppins film, especially without Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
In the new film, actress Emily Blunt takes over the role of Mary Poppins. An interesting choice indeed.
In Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, an all-new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

It looks good. I’m excited to see this. The film comes to theaters on December 19, 2018.

Captain Marvel
I know a lot of people have been anxiously waiting for this film to be released. I’m one of those people. I intentionally re-watched the trailer over and over again because the film looks so good!
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law. Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL is produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Patricia Whitcher and Stan Lee are the executive producers.
Watch the trailer for yourself and let me know what you think.
So good!
