Me at Christmas time with some of my new toys. One of my favorite dolls is seen to the bottom right of the photo.
I always loved playing with my dolls when I was a little girl. So much so, I still have a few of them left (I saved them for when my daughter was little). They might not have the “bells and whistles” that today’s dolls have (WHY would you want a doll that really poops and pees?), but that is fine with me. I used my imagination to bring my dolls to life.
Even as a Tom Boy, I always loved playing with dolls.
As I got older, I started to see dolls as more so collectibles than play toys. After all, I was an adult. I didn’t need them as play toys anymore.
When I was in Wales back when I was 16 years old, my mom, sister and I were in a lovely little shop in Pembroke (Wales). In that store I saw the most beautiful doll I’ve ever seen. I was totally enamored with her. I can’t remember the brand name. All I know is that she was expensive and an heirloom-quality doll. I had no intentions of playing with her (after all, I was a teenager), I just wanted to be able to look at her and change her outfit and hairstyle from time to time.
I still see beautiful dolls from time to time. One day, when we have more room in our condo (when our kids move out), I think I might start collecting them. We’ll see.

I was recently introduced to the brand Feltman Brothers. Are you familiar with them?
Feltman Brothers makes the most beautiful, classic, heirloom-quality clothing for infants and toddlers. They also sell beautiful baby dolls and the same quality clothing as their “human counterparts.”
This holiday season, shop the most exquisite and classic holiday gifts for your favorite little people. Young kids and doll collectors alike will fall in love with these four life-like dolls with soft scented skin and real eye lashes. Match your little one’s skin tone and hair color to coordinate with their very own mini me!
Does it get any better? Coordinate child and doll with a selection of beautiful, hand-embroidered, authentic Feltman Doll clothing. The dolls and their accompanying accessories reflect the standards of craftsmanship that the company has maintained for over a hundred years.
Feltman Brothers was kind enough to send me one of their beautiful dolls, and a doll outfit, to check out for myself.
I was sent to review Abigail. Abigail has blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. Sadly, none of my photos of Abigail highlighted her beautiful, sparking, blue eyes. They are so much nicer in person.
This doll is not too big. It’s the perfect size for toddlers. In fact, holding reminded me of holding our son when he came home from the hospital. He was a preemie and weighed only 2 pounds, 4 ounces and was 14″ long. He was just over four pounds when he came home, and no bigger than a standard football.

33 days old – 4 pounds 2 ounces – the same size as a regular football – 1999
Holding Abigail reminded me of holding our son back when he was that small. It was a surreal experience. It felt like it was only yesterday. Now he’s 5’11” and about 185 pounds (mostly muscles). Sigh… time sure has flown.
Abigail’s skin is so soft. I love how she has pinkish tones to her skin here and there, so she’s not one matte color. Humans have variations in their skin tone, so why shouldn’t dolls have that too? I guess you would call it “blushing.” Sher skin has “blushing” here and there.
You can see some examples of “blushing” on her legs and feet in these two photos.
A remarkable thing about this doll is that she doesn’t have long hair. Most baby dolls have long hair so little girls can brush and style it. Not Abigail. She has short hair. At first I was a bit surprised by it, but after I started to brush it and play around with it, I actually love the short hair.
Abigail’s hair so soft, silky and shiny.
She came with a bobby pin for her hair. I’m going to buy hair clips after the holiday season, or maybe even a hair band for a baby/toddler.
The doll came in a Feltman Brothers onesie. The brand also send me a dress set (dress and “bloomers”).
The dress is BEAUTIFUL! I cannot believe it’s a dress made for dolls. The dress is a more superior quality than any doll outfit I have ever seen in all my years.
The dress I received is the Holiday Doll Dress. It’s pure white with small, embroidered, red and green “flower” looking designs on the chest area. The color of the dress is trimmed in red.
This dress set comes with a pair of pure white “bloomers” to cover the dolls bottom and legs. The legs of the bloomers are ruffled.
Feltman Brothers has dresses for babies and toddlers that match the dress for the doll. I can imagine how precious a holiday picture would be with a little girl dressed up for the holiday with her doll in a matching holiday outfit.
It’s not just for the holidays. Feltman Brothers has several outfits for dolls that match children’s outfits.
Feltman Brothers also has clothing for little boys (infant and toddler) as well as clothing for preemies. As the mom of a former preemie, I appreciate any clothing maker who includes this world’s tiniest members.
