Do you enjoy Where’s Waldo books?
Where’s Waldo books have been around since the late 1980’s. I was enjoying them as a teen and young adult. To this day I still enjoy them, however, they have come a long way since when the books first started. Today they are much more challenging. Even a “Where’s Waldo Pro” might have a hard time finding that elusive character.
I received three new Where’s Waldo books from Candlewick Press that take Where’s Waldo to a whole new level. These are very challenging, yet, fun, books for kids and adults alike.
All these books are illustrated by Martin Handford.

Where’s Waldo?: The Official Coloring Book
If you think finding Waldo when the books are in color, try finding him on black and white pages. It’s crazy!
Of the three books I received to review, this one was the most challenging.
If you want to color in this book you’ll need coloring pencils or fine tipped markers. There is no way you can use crayons or thicker markers with these images.

In addition to trying to find Waldo (such as in the image directly above) there are also other games/activities throughout the book to keep you busy, so as finishing the faces in the top photo.
If you are up for the challenge, THIS is the book for you. Trying to find Waldo in a black and white scene without finding his iconic red and white stripped shirt makes it really challenging – but fun at the same time.

The Ultimate Maze Adventure: Where’s Waldo? – A-MAZE-ing Journeys
In this book you not only have to find Waldo, but also move along mazes that zig zag across the pages. Some mazes are easy and others a bit more difficult.

In addition to the mazes the book also has a list of 100 things to look for throughout the book (seek and find). I love that there is that added element to this book. People of all ages can get involved in the seek and find portion of the book. Even little kids will get excited when they can find something on the list.

Where’s Waldo? The Magnificent Movie Spotlight Search
In this book you’ll need to use the included “flashlight” to search each of the pages. The “flashlight” stores behind the front cover when not in use.
To use the “flashlight” simply slide it into the opening found on each of the search pages. Then move it around to reveal the images on the pages.

This book also includes games, mazes, and searches.
The pages (scenes) are of different genres too.
I’m sorry the photos don’t do this book justice. The images are not as easy to see in person (without using the “flashlight”). I tried to get a better photo but I would reflect on them. No one needs to see me (ha ha).
You can find these books are various retailers. I found them on Amazon and Barnes and Noble too.
What do you think about these books? Would your child, grandchild or even YOU enjoy looking through these books to find that rascal Waldo? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
