Homemade cookies, boxes of chocolate, turkey dinner with all the fixings, baked ham with all the fixing, hot chocolate with marshmallows… did I say cookies (I love cookies). LOL!
The holiday season is NOT the best time of year when you are trying to watch what you eat, and even worse if you want to lose weight. It’s only natural for most people to toss aside their healthy regimes in favor of enjoying everything the holidays have to offer. I think that is why many people make resolutions such as lose weight, exercise, and get healthy. I’ve made those resolutions myself more times than I care to remember.
Not everyone can afford a gym membership, and not many people have exercise equipment. Walking is a great exercise, but that is not always possible due to inclement weather. You would need something that you can do indoors, something that is fun.
Let me introduce you to the Whirly Board.
The Whirly Board is a hot, new trend. It’s a spinning balance board. It can help you burn energy and get some fun exercise in as well. It’s fun for kids and adults.
The Whirly Board looks like a skateboard at first glance. The difference is that this board doesn’t have wheels. It has a round, rubber-like half-ball shaped piece on the bottom.
To use the Whirly Board, you need to place it on carpeting or something like a yoga mat. Don’t use this on wood, or tile flooring (or any other slippery flooring). Slippery flooring can make the Whirly Board slip when you are using it.
The idea of the Whirly Board is to practice balancing (great for kids and adults who want to work on their core strength). It also offers a low-impact, total body workout that burns more calories and helps you get in better shape.
The Whirly Board has been used for sports training, physical therapy, yoga and Pilates and general fitness.
If you are a skateboarder, skier, or any other kind of board sport, the Whirly Board can help you learn to balance and spin better. It’s a great way to train before hitting the slopes or taking your skateboard out in more challenging locations.
Some people use the Whirly Board at work. They use it at their standing desks, and they use it when they take brief breaks at work. It’s a fun way to sneak in some physical activity.
Kids can also enjoy the Whirly Board. It’s something fun they can do when stuck inside. They can practice balancing and spinning.
I was sent a Whirly Board to review.
It was much larger in person than expected, but that is fine with me. It also has a decent weight on it. It’s heavy, but not to the point where you can carry it.
I am NOT a physically active person. I walk a lot while at work, but once I’m home I turn into a “couch potato.”
It has taken me a while to learn to balance on the Whirly Board, but that is not a bad thing. Like I said, I’m not physically active, and I am overweight. My son and daughter were able to use it and spin on it the first time they stepped on it.
I use the Whirly Board next to our TV stand. That way I have something to grab on to if I feel like I’m losing balance. I’m getting better each time I use it.
I watch TV when I use it, so I can still see my favorite shows AND get some physical activity in at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.
I can spin on the Whirly Board too, but my spins are very slow. My kids twirl around on it like it’s nothing – and they are not active either (they are normal weights, so that might help).
There is a stabilizing ring available for the Whirl Board too. It’s great for beginners, so I am grateful that the brand send me one of those to use with the Whirly Board.
I love the Whirly Board. It’s fun to use and challenge myself. I have a goal of using it without having a “crutch” of something next to me to hold on when I need it. I also want to spin on it like a pro.
If you are interested in learning more about the Whirly Board, and check out more Whirly Board products, visit WhirlyBoard.com. You can shop on their site, but I do see that Whirly Board is available on Amazon. On Amazon it has 4.8 stars (out of 5!). Eighty-five percent (85%) of purchasers give the Whirly Board a 5 star review. That is pretty impressive. It’s out of nearly 600 purchasers.
There are also A LOT of exercise videos on the Whirly Board YouTube page you might want to check out.
This would also make a great holiday gift.
What do you think of the Whirly Board? Does it look like something you would want to try out for yourself?
