Have you ever heard great things about a product that you were excited to try, only to find out that it didn’t work for you. I have had that happen one too many times. Take for example supplements. I would hear great things about a supplement on social media, or other website reviews, rush to buy it, only to find out that it did nothing for me. What I’m left with is less money in my checking account and products cluttering my shelves that I have no use for.
Many products are not “one size fits all.” That is also true for skincare products. Just because something works great for me doesn’t necessarily mean it will work the same way for you.
Let me introduce you to Y’OUR (yes, it’s spelled that way). Y’OUR is a line of beauty products to suit your skin care needs. As per the brand’s website, “Your face is NOT a science experiment.”
In order to figure out what products your face really needs, Y’OUR has created a personalized skincare quiz. Based on the following four factors;
- Your biology
- You behavior
- Your goals
- Your habits
This quiz helps to take the guesswork out of what skincare products you really need.
Best of all, the products are good for your skin and our eco-friendly.
Y’OUR asked if I would like to review their products. In order to do so, I took their free online skin care quiz in order to find out what my skin truly needs. As I result, I was sent the following products to review.
Cleanser
I love a good cleanser.
For me, a cleaner must be;
- Gentle
- Removes makeup.
- Rinses off completely.
- Doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight after it’s rinsed off.
- Doesn’t bother my sometimes sensitive skin.
This cleanser checked off all the boxes. In fact, once I rinse it off and my skin dries, my skin feels really good. It feels as clean as it does when I step out of the shower.
I use the cleaner in the morning as well as soon as I get home from work (I’m not a fan of wearing makeup for too long).
Day Cream
I love this day cream. Its easy to apply, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling hydrated.
My favorite thing about this day cream is that is has SPF in it. As someone who burns at the mere thought of sunshine (ha ha), I need SPF products on both my face and body every time I step outside the door. I hate the feeling of sunscreen, most especially on my face. This day cream doesn’t feel like sunscreen at all. So far, so good too. I haven’t been burned since using it.
I do re-apply it late in the afternoon, just to be on the safe side. I have applied this over makeup with no issues.
Serum
This stuff is HEAVENLY! I am in love with the Y’OUR serum.
A little bit goes a long way too. It comes in a bottle with a dropper. I used a whole dropper full the first time I used it and found that it was way more than I needed. I use about 1/2 a dropper (maybe a wee bit less then half) and it’s more than enough to cover my entire face.
Using this serum alone my skin feels SO GOOD. Not only that, it feels super soft to the touch.
Dare I say I cannot wait to wash my face when I get home from work just to apply this serum. It’s so soothing and feels oh-so-good!
Night Cream
I find the night creams can sometimes be too heavy on my skin. This night cream is not. It’s lightweight, easy to apply, and absorbs quickly.
Just like with the serum, I used too much the first couple of times I tried the product. A little bit of this also goes a long way.
I like the bottle this comes in. You push down on the top (like a pump) and a little but of the product pops out in the center. I find that one pump is all I need.
This cream, combined with the serum, and a magical duo. I think these two products are my favorite Y’OUR products.
Eye Cream
This is an interesting product. It comes in what looks like a giant needle. I was shocked when I first saw it. No worries, it’s not an injectable. To use, simple push out a little bit of the product. It’s topical, not injectable.
Sadly, I had to stop using this product. I sometimes get Eczema on my eyelids. I don’t know if this product triggered a reaction, or it has something to do with the new eye drops my eye doctor recommended.
I did use the product a few times. I found it easy to apply, but like I said, I couldn’t continue to use it because of the Eczema. When the Eczema FINALLY goes away (I still have it and it’s so annoying!), I’ll think about trying this product again.
Invisible Matte Finishing Powder
This is a “barely there” face powder. It comes in a compact with a sponge applicator. I just pat some on my face after I am done with applying my skincare products and make up. It does do a fabulous job setting your makeup and taking away any shine you might have.
I have used this on bare (makeup) free skin too, just to take away any shine I might have.
This is lightweight and I personally can’t even tell that I am wearing anything when wearing it alone.
Makeup Setting Spray
This is an easy-to-you setting spray for your makeup. After you are finished applying your makeup, spritz a little bit of this spray around your face and your makeup is set.
This feels refreshing and it dries super quick. Compared to other setting sprays I have used in the past, I think this one is probably my most favorite for how quick it dries and how well it sets.
You might have noticed that the products have numbers on them. Those numbers represent the order of sequence you should use them in. Numbers one and two I use in the AM and numbers one, three, four, and five I use in the PM. I don’t use number two since that is a day cream. I have no use for a day cream in the PM, but I do use the cleanser (#1) since I want to remove my makeup.
This numbering system makes skincare a “no brainer.” I you can follow the numbers you know what steps you should take and in what sequence.
So far, so good. I am enjoying these products. Aside from the eye cream, I think all these products are working out well for my skin.
