It’s that time of year again. No, I don’t mean holiday shopping and packing on 10 pounds from all the yummy foods and treats. I’m referring to dry skin. Or in some cases (like mine) exceptionally dry, irritating and almost painful dry skin.
I live in the Northeast. It has been cold enough where we’ve had to put the heat on. I hate it when the heat is on because it makes the air in our home very dry, causing my skin to dry out too. From my hands to my feet, my skin gets really dried out.
The heat in the car also dries out my skin. When I am driving with the heat on it blasts on my hands on the steering wheel. That too causes my hands to be super dry.
Even cold air seems to dry out the skin. I don’t know why. All I know is that my skin is fine during the Spring, Summer and Fall. Come Winter my skin gets dried out.
I normally have an arsenal of creams and lotions on hand all over my home, in my car, in my husband’s car and in my handbag. I don’t go anywhere without something to rub on my skin.
I think I’ve tried every product on the market (or so it would seem). I always try a product at least once. If it works for me I stick with it. If it does nothing to help my skin I won’t buy it again, even if I have a coupon and its on sale. I rather pay more for something I know works rather then save a few dollars and buy something that is just going to be a waste of money.
For the past few weeks I’ve been using Carmex Healing Cream and Carmex Healing Lotion. The cream is to help repair your most driest, roughest skin. The lotion is more for daily use to help keep your skin smooth and protect it from drying out in the first place.
Both the lotion and the cream are non greasy and absorb fairly quickly into your skin.
The cream offers you nine healing ingredients. The lotion contains Aloe and Vitamin E which have been known to do wonders on your skin.
I have been using Carmex lip care products for a long time. I’ve always been impressed with how they protect my lips and keep them soft and hydrated. I had a feeling the lotion and cream would be equally as wonderful.
Both the lotion and the cream have a pleasant scent. They both almost smell like they have a hint of vanilla. It’s a very subtle scent too. It’s not like you are going to smell like the lotion or cream long after you apply them. Instead you can smell the light scent when your skin is close to your face.
The lotion is great for every day use to keep your skin from getting dry in the first place. I’ve been using the lotion every day. I apply it to my hands after I wash them and throughout the day. So far, so good. I haven’t experienced any dry skin issues. I especially like that it absorbs fairly quickly so I don’t have to wait around for it to dry. I simply squirt some on to my hand, rub it into both hands and give it about a minute to absorb then I can continue with what I was doing.
Of the two products the cream is my favorite. It’s a bit thicker then the lotion. I have been using it on the heels of my feet which always seem to get dry and rough. I recommend exfoliating your heels first (use a PedEgg or similar product to smooth out the rough spots), then apply the cream at least once a day. I usually slather it on my heels before I got to bed. I put on cotton socks after I apply it to my skin. Not only does it seem to help it absorb better into my skin it also protects my bedding and keeps me from slipping when I walk on tile floors. After two days of doing this my heels were noticeably different. After about three days my heels were in tip top shape.
I’ve been applying the cream to my heels twice a week just to maintain them and to keep them from getting rough and dry again. It has been working out great for me.
I’m giving the Carmex Healing Lotion and Carmex Healing Cream two thumbs up. If I had another thumb I would give the cream an extra thumbs up because I am especially impressed by the cream.
