#Kohls Grand Opening Sale

Kohl’s is opening up nine brand new stores across the country. The new stores will even have WiFi so that you can connect with your family and friends while shopping and tell them about all the great prices and merchandise you are finding on your shopping trip. 🙂

To celebrate to opening on the new stores, Kohl’s stores around the country will be having a Grand Opening Sale starting today (March 6, 2013) and ending on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2013. You can save upwards of 60% on your favorite brands!

I went to my local Kohl’s store to take advantage of this huge sale. I am in need of some fresh pieces for my wardrobe. The weather has been so drab and dreary these days. I thought I would brighten things up a bit by finding a few new tops to go along with my denim capris that I love to wear in the Spring. I have to favorite pairs of denim capris, one are just plain, simple ones. The other ones have an embellishment sewn on to one leg.

I was also in need of a new sweat jacket. I’ve had my current one for a few years now and it’s showing it’s age. It’s time to retire it and get a new sweat jacket (or light weight jacket) to wear during the Spring months when its still a bit chilly, especially in the mornings.

Today was not exactly a great day to head out to the store. We’re anticipating snow tonight and all day it’s been raining off and on. You can tell what kind of a day it was by the photo. This was taken around 10:00 AM.

I found it interesting that despite the not-so-nice weather that Kohl’s was packed. We’ve shopped at Kohl’s plenty of times, but usually on the weekends. Kohl’s is the only place I can find petite jeans for my daughter. We can usually find great deals on jeans for my son at Kohl’s too.

Once inside I made my way to the women’s section. I’m glad that Kohl’s has a plus size section AND they carry designer labels for plus size ladies too.

On my way to the women’s section I had to stop along the way to check out some “bling” (jewelry) that was on display in the walkway. I love things that sparkle and there were a lot of sparklers that caught my eye.

It took me a long time to browse the racks in the women’s section. There were so many great sales going on. I’m talking upwards of 40% on brands like  Croft & Barrow, Daisy Fuentes, Apt 9, Jennifer Lopes and Sonoma Life & Style. I love the Sonoma brand.

Everywhere I looked I saw digital displays with mostly 40% off – and that includes the designer brands like Jennifer Lopez and Daisy Fuentes. They also had really nice simple t-shirts for $7.99! Where else can you can get a nice t-shirt for $7.99? Personally I think the t-shirts were nice enough to be worn to work with a pair of slacks.

I didn’t know that Jennifer Lopez had clothing in my size. She has some nice things. I really liked the Daisy Fuentes blouses. I had a few in my hand, same style, different colors/patterns.

I foolishly didn’t pick up a shopping cart so I had to carry everything in my hands. I had a reusable tote with me but I didn’t want people to think I was trying to take something, so I just carried everything in my hand.

After going through all the racks I finally had a handful of tops and a nice sweat jacket to try on. I was fortunate to get right into the dressing room without having to wait.

Check out some of the great pieces I had (I even tried on another pair of denim capris). What you see in the photo is not everything. There were even MORE tops hanging up (some were hidden behind others).

After trying everything on and then narrowing it down I finally decided to take a lovely lightweight tops by Sonoma Life & Style as well as a really soft and pretty sweat jacket by Sonoma Life & Style. I also picked up a nice t-shirt by Croft & Barrow. I don’t even know if t-shirt is the right word for the top, it’s just the best way I can think of to describe it.

After I found a few new tops to go with both of my favorite denim capris, I headed over to the jewelry section to check out those sales. I do have jewelry, BUT, my jewelry box is in my father’s basement, and he lives an hour North of us. When we put our condo on the market we packed up A LOT of stuff to move it out of here so that our condo looked more “roomy”. When we were redoing our master bedroom closet I put my two jewelry boxes in a storage box just to get it out of the way until we were done with the closet. The box got mixed up with the stuff to take to my father’s basement to store until we sold the condo and bought a house. Now the box is impossible to find because we must have 40+ boxes in my father’s basement. The box wasn’t labeled because I never intended for it to go into storage. I was left with no jewelry. Since Kohl’s was having a huge Grand Opening sale I thought I’d pick up a few pieces to add to my new Spring outfits as well as to replace all my jewelry that is now packed away.

WOW! Kohl’s had jewelry on sale for up to 50% off! Take for example this adorable Butterfly necklace I bought (nothing says “Spring” more then a butterfly). It was only $10 (50% off!). In fact most of the jewelry I picked up was 50% off.

I’m sorry these pictures didn’t turn out so well. It’s hard to take pictures of shiny, sparkly things because the flash tends to wash things out.

I even picked up two necklace & earring sets for only $10! I LOVE the set with the iridescent “stone”.

I did purchase one non-Spring thing – a container of Godiva Dark Chocolate Pearls. Think of them as chocolate “Tic-Tacs”. They are little tiny balls of chocolate you can pop in your mouth the same way you would a Tic Tac. That was an impulse buy. 🙂

Over all I spent $144.58 – but – I saved a jaw dropping $103.64 thanks to the Grand Opening sale. WOW! Over $100 in savings! :-)!!!!!!

In addition to saving over $100 I also received $20.00 in Kohl’s Cash. For every $50 you spend you get $10 in Kohl’s Cash. Since I spent over $100+ I got $20 back. If I would have spent another $5+ I could have got back another $10 in Kohl’s Cash. I’m kicking myself now because I was eyeing the Dr. Seuss books and plush that Kohl’s has as part of their Kohl’s Cares program. I LOVE Dr. Seuss. I wanted to pick up a few of the plush (one of each) and the books (one of each). I totally forgot about it. It wasn’t until after I checked out that I remembered I wanted to get them.

Kohls Cash

I’m not sure if this is the case during the duration of the Grand Opening sale, or if it was just for today, but I was told if I opened up a Kohls credit card I could save an ADDITIONAL 30% off my total. WOW! That is A LOT! However we already have a Kohls credit card.

The other day in the mail I received something for Kohl’s that gave me an additional 15% off if I used my Kohl’s credit card. There was a chance of saving up to 30% but my “secret” amount was only 15%. I opted not to take advantage of the 15% additional savings. We don’t owe anything on our Kohls card and we like to keep it that way. We use the Kohls card for back to school shopping.

If you are looking to jazz up your Spring wardrobe now is the time to do so. But hurry! The Grand Opening sale at Kohl’s ends on March 17, 2013!
