Have you ever heard of the character Mumfie? Mumfie is a cute little animated elephant that has his own series which was created by Britt Allcroft. The series is based up novels written by Katherine Tozer.
Britt Allcroft is a British television producer, writer and director. She created the hugely popular Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (later re-titled Thomas & Friends) and Shining Time Station series.
Mumfie lives in a cottage in the woods. Mumfie also has a lot of friends including an adorable pink flying pig (Pinkie), Scarcrow and an assortment of other creatures like a mysterious cat, whale, bird and even a reindeer. Mumfie even has friends that are pirates.
I’m not sure if Mumfie is a boy or a girl. Mumfie looks like a girl, but sounds like a boy. 🙂
I received to review Mumfie’s White Christmas. The DVD has a Christmas/Winter theme.
Join Mumfie, Scarecrow and Pinkey on their unforgettable quest across sea and snow to ask Santa for a wintery white Christmas. Though their journey takes some unexpected turns, with the help of familiar friends like Whale, Napoleon and the mysterious Black Cat, as well as new ones like a high-flying reindeer and a magic little snowbird, Mumfie discovers the value of kindness and the true meaning of Christmas.
The New York Daily News calls Mumfie’s White Christmas “gentle, smart and beautifully animated”.
The cartoon has an “old” look to it. It reminds me of animated specials from the 80’s.
This is NOT your typical holiday movie. After all, how many holiday movies feature a magical snowbird, pink flying pig and a talking whale.
When the movie first started I was a bit “iffy” on whether or not I would like it. After a while I could see that there was a certain charm to the characters. I especially love Pinky. He’s adorable!
The DVD comes with three bonus episodes (they are only a few minutes long).
Bristle’s Holiday – Bristle needs help learning to relax and have fun.
Reindeers Keep Dropping on My Head – Mumfie’s reindeer friend Uare (not sure of the spelling) needs to find some work to do.
Pinky’s First Winter – Cute little Pinky gets to enjoy his first snow and learns how fun playing in the snow can be.
Mumfie’s White Christmas is available on DVD. You can also find it on Digital Download, Video on Demand (VOD) and Pay-Per-View. The DVD retails for $9.99.
Here is a clip from Mumfie’s White Christmas for your enjoyment.
In addition here are two coloring pages you can download and print out.
I think this is a cute DVD that young and even older children will enjoy. It’s a bit different than other holiday movies which makes it stand out a bit more.
Are you familiar with Mumfie? Do you have a favorite character (mine is Pinky)?
