Subway Caters

The holiday season is flying by! I can’t believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away. I’ve been so caught up in a million different things that I haven’t really had a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the season. Even when I try to watch a holiday movie or TV special my mind is racing on the dozens of things I need to do – blog posts, cooking, cleaning, looking up recipes, making phone calls, mailing out cards… Sigh…

After the holidays are over I don’t even want to think about creating a big meal. I want to go back to making spaghetti tacos and meatloaf. I don’t want to have to think about shopping for dozens of ingredients and doubling up on recipes to make sure I have enough for guests.

I envy those who can afford to have lavish dinner parties catered. It’s nice to be able to ENJOY your meal without having to worry about getting everything cooked in time and hoping that you made enough food for everyone.

There is an easy way to feed hungry guests, especially at post holiday gatherings, with Subway Caters.

Did you know that Subway offers catering? They do! You can order sandwich platters, 3′ sandwiches and sides to feed you family as well as any post holiday party.  The  food can be ordered and picked up when convenient for you. All you need to do is place the food out for people to enjoy. even offers a variety of condiments so your guests can customize their sandwiches to their liking.

I planned an informal post-Thanksgiving get together this past weekend due to the fact that most family members were out of town at their in-laws or other family members homes for the holiday. Since I didn’t have time to create a lavish menu, and I wanted to keep it informal, turning to Subway Caters was the perfect choice.

I ended up ordering two platters. The available options are;

CLASSIC COMBO Platter: Featuring the Cold Cut Combo, B.L.T., Turkey Breast, Tuna and Italian B.M.T.®.  Contains 15 Portions, Serves 5–9

FLAVOR CRAVER™ Platter: Featuring the SUBWAY CLUB®, Roast Beef, Spicy Italian, Italian B.M.T.® and the Turkey Breast & Black Forest Ham. Contains 15 portions, serves 5–9

SUBWAY FRESH FIT® Platter: Featuring the VEGGIE DELITE®, Black Forest Ham, Turkey Breast, SUBWAY CLUB® and the Turkey Breast & Black Forest Ham. Contains 15 portions, serves 5–9

Customize Your Own Platter: Contains 15 portions of up to 5 different flavors. Serves 5–9

I opted for two Flavor Craver platters – one with Italian bread and the other with a variety of breads.

You control what kind of toppings to put on the sandwiches. I chose cheese, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, pickles, black olives and onions. I figured people could pick off any toppings they don’t like (I don’t like black olives so I picked them off my sandwich slices).

The platters come with mayo and mustard on the side. You can add other condiments if you like. I requested oil & vinegar and Sweet Onion as well.

I also ordered two cookie platters – one with mixed cookies and one with chocolate chip cookies.

Once I knew what I wanted to order I called Subway Caters at 1-877-360-CATER (2283). I wanted my order for the following day. The representative wanted to make sure that was possible so she called our local Subway restaurant on my behalf to make certain they could fulfill my order in time (they could).

You can call Subway Caters Monday through Friday from 8:0o AM – 11:00 PM (EST), Saturday from 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM (EST) and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (EST). Please call at least 24 hours before you need to pick up your food.

I find it very convenient and helpful that you can call Subway Caters and place an order 7 days a week. That is great for any last minute catering needs. I especially like that they take order late at night too.

I chose to order from Subway Caters not only because of the convenience of ordering and because our local Subway restaurant is about a mile down the street and it was easy to pick up my order. I also chose to order sandwiches from Subways because everyone likes sandwiches and they offer a variety of options. I also like that I was able to customize my order and offer guests a variety of condiments to customize their sandwiches to suit their tastes.

Sandwiches are also great for picky eaters. Little kids tend to not like “grown up” meals, but they can usually find a sandwich or two that they like. Ordering the platters from Subway Caters ensured that I had something for EVERYONE to enjoy and I didn’t have to worry about making anything extra like mac and cheese or chicken nuggets (a staple for most kids).

The price was a factor too. It was more affordable than I thought it would be.

As you can see they provided more than enough condiments. In fact we had plenty left over which I am keeping in the fridge to use on other sandwiches throughout the week.

I mentioned that we ordered cookies too. Our local Subways gave us the chocolate chip cookies that we ordered. We had ordered a variety of cookies for the second platter but they gave us all gingerbread cookies instead. It worked out OK since gingerbread cookies are ideal for the holiday season.

 Everyone enjoyed the delicious assortment of sandwiches. Even our cat Bella tried to sneak a bite.

As you can see from the photo below all but a few slices were gobbled up by my family and our guests. The left over sandwiches were enjoyed later on that evening when my husband was looking for a late night snack.

It’s always such a hassle to make sure we have things fixed to take, packages all wrapped, get everything loaded, kids dressed and ready to go, out the door and we always end up leaving something behind.   64. I’d like to cater lunch for our Christmas Eve gathering… we all get together early in the day (mid morning) and spend the entire day together. Dinner is pot-luck style but we make cookies with all the kids earlier so lunch is always fend for yourself in the craziness.
