What kind of toothbrush do you use? Do you use a regular, manual toothbrush, or do you use a powered toothbrush?
All my life I have used manual toothbrushes. Growing up they didn’t have rechargeable ones or ones that ran on batteries.
When my kids were younger I wanted to make sure they were doing a great job brushing their teeth. I thought giving them battery operated toothbrushes would help (back then they didn’t have rechargeable ones). Oddly enough neither of my kids really battery operated toothbrushes. They prefer the manual ones.
I have always been curious about how well power toothbrushes worked compared to manual. One day I purchased a battery operated one just to see how it worked. It took a bit of getting used to, however I really liked the way my teeth felt after using a powered toothbrush. I personally feel that they are much cleaner and closer to a dentist cleaning then a regular toothbrush. Since then I’ve been hooked on power toothbrushes. So much so that I can’t stand using a manual toothbrush anymore.
When I travel I buy a disposable toothbrush so I can toss it out when I leave my hotel. My teeth never seem to feel clean. I can’t wait to get home to use my power toothbrush so I can have that clean feeling again.
I eventually moved from battery operated toothbrushes to a rechargeable one. It saves on batteries.
Before the holiday I received to review the new Philips Sonicare 2 Series Plaque Control rechargeable toothbrush. According to Philips the Sonicare 2 removes up to 6X more tooth-decaying plaque from teeth than a manual toothbrush.
In just two minutes, this bathroom gadget will deliver more brush strokes than your manual can do in a month.
The first thing I noticed about this toothbrush is that head is a lot smaller than other toothbrushes I have used. It’s rather tiny. It kind of reminds me of the size toothbrushes I used when my kids were little.
I know that the head can be replaced. I am not sure if you can purchase a larger head or not for this unit.
The Sonicare technology with this toothbrush delivers 31,000 brush strokes per minute. You don’t actually feel like it’s moving. I think it feels more like it’s vibrating than brushing.
Even though it doesn’t feel like it’s brushing my teeth do feel clean when I am done using it. Occasionally I miss a spot or two (I think it’s because I’m not used to the small head). To remedy this I just brush over the spots I might have missed.
On a positive note, the smaller head makes it easier to reach hard to reach places. I happen to be missing one of my molars in the back of my mouth. The smaller head allows for me to do a better job cleaning the gap in between the other teeth.
On a full charge this toothbrush lasts for about two weeks before you need to recharge it. I like that. I usually plug my toothbrush in on Sunday mornings for a few hours just to make sure I always have a full charge and it never runs out. There is nothing worse than your power toothbrush running out of a charge while you are brushing your teeth. I’ve had that happen too many times. That is why I made it a habit to charge my toothbrush for a few hours every Sunday morning.
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series Plaque Control toothbrush does have a two color battery indicator to let you know when your toothbrush needs to be recharged again.
A great feature with this toothbrush is that it lets you know when two minutes is up by turning off. That way you know that you brushed your teeth for the recommended amount of time. You can press the “on” button if you want to brush a little longer if need be.
The suggested retail price for the Philips Sonicare 2 Series Plaque Control toothbrush is $69.99. I see it sold on Amazon for under $40 in case you are interested in it.

Philips Sonicare has several other toothbrushes and even an Airfloss which looks interesting.
What kind of toothbrush do you use? Do you prefer manual toothbrushes or do you like power toothbrushes? Have you ever used a Philips Sonicare product?

I have seen really good reviews on this toothbrush and I think that its definitely worth trying. There are more expensive products out there but since the reviews have been good I think that I would try this first to see if I would be happy with it.

I love a battery operated toothbrush too! This one is really nice. It’s cool that it has the timer and that the small brush head fits all areas so well. I’ve been thinking of getting a rechargeable. I guess I’ll have to look into this one! Thank-you!!

I need this! I have super sensitive teeth so going to the dentist for a cleaning is like torture to me. I love that it lets you know when your 2 minutes are up. I will have to check this out. Thanks for the review.
