I have a HUGE weight off of my shoulders. I FINALLY have some holiday shopping done. Not only did I get some really nice gifts but I also saved a lot of money (thankfully!).
Years ago I used to be completely done holiday shopping by late September. The past few years we’ve started our shopping later then usual. Here it is a few days before Thanksgiving and we JUST started holiday shopping.
On Saturday my husband and I left the kids for a little while so we could go and get some holiday shopping done. Thankfully they are old enough where we can leave them home for a few hours with no worries. No only that they know to check in with us frequently, either by text or phone calls.
Our first stop was Sears. There were a few things I had in mind and I knew Sears would be a great place to look for them.
Our teen daughter LOVES handbags. She has more bags then she needs, but she still wants more. Is it possible to be a “bag-o-holic”? Ha Ha.
In the past we’ve been able to find the perfect bag for our daughter at Sears. They have a huge selection. Our daughter likes big bags because she uses them to tote her school books around instead of a backpack.
We were in luck! Sears had pretty much all of their bags on sale for 50% off. You read that correctly – 50% OFF! Because of that we were able to get our daughter not one but TWO awesome bags. Not only that I picked up a new bag for myself and a new wallet. At 50% off it was too hard to resist.
Sears had some great tops for our son on sale for $9.99, and jeans on sale for $17.99. We picked him up two outfits (top and bottom). He’s going to love the tops. I can’t wait to see him in them.
I picked up an adorable Peanuts Christmas tee shirt for only $6.00. In hindsight I should have picked one up for the whole family. They had Peanuts, Grinch, snowmen and other adorable holiday theme shirts for $6.00.
While we were looking for things to get as gifts we happened across THE BIGGEST Whitman’s Sampler box we’ve ever seen. It was MASSIVE! It normally sells for $29.99 but it was on sale for $19.99. I was tempted to pick one up so we had it to share with everyone for the holidays but we opted to hold off to see what other goodies we could find. We left the store without picking up a box. I’m going to swing by Sears later on this week to see if they are still on sale and get a box.
One of the things we were looking for at Sears was a new bike for our son. They did have many to choose from. We saw a couple we liked but we were hesitant to purchase one because we need to figure out if he needs a 24″ or 26″. If need be we can always go back and get one and put it on Sears layaway.
Sears had K-cup portion packs on sale for $10.99 a box. I picked up a box of Kahlua K-cup portion packs. I thought those would be nice to have on hand to share with anyone who might stop by. I also picked up a box of hot chocolate K-cup portion packs because I know kids love hot chocolate (and so do I!).
I couldn’t resist these super adorable bath mats to add a festive touch to our bathroom. I picked up a big Santa face bath mat and a really cute Gingerbread man bath mat. At $7.98 each it was hard to resist.
While we were looking for great gift ideas I came across these amazing Cozy Nights Supreme Plush Throws. They are so soft! Just one touch and I was in love. I just had to have one. They are normally $39.99 but were on sale for $19.99. I picked one up for our living room couch. I also suggested that we pick one up for each of the kids to keep on their beds. My husband said they probably wouldn’t think it was a great gift so we passed on it.
Later on when we got home I laid the Cozy Nights Supreme Plush Throw on our couch. My son curled up into it. He begged me to get him one too. He said he’d give me all his dog walking money for two weeks if I’d go back to Sears and get him one. Needless to say I went online and ordered one for each of my kids.
If you are looking for tools as a gift for someone Sears was overflowing with tools. Wow! They had every type of tool you could possibly thing of. They had a whole section set up just for tools people might want to pick up as holiday gifts.
By the time we left Sears we had several great gifts for our kids, treats for holiday guests and some fun holiday decor. The store wides sales were too hard to resist.
I wish I had photos to share of our purchases. Since most of the items we picked up were holiday gifts we left them in the trunk of the car so the kids didn’t see them. My husband takes the gifts to work with him so that there is no risk of the kids getting a sneak peek. 🙂
I also shared my shopping experience on the Sears Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/Sears. Feel free to visit and leave a comment if you’d like.
We have a “wish list” of other items we’d like to pick up for the holiday season. We’ll have to keep an eye on the Sears People’s Pick program where site visitors can vote on select items to save even more money on.
Overall it was a great shopping trip. I feel like we accomplished a nice chunk of our holiday shopping. The great sales helped us to pick up more then we anticipated.
The day before “Black Friday” Sears shoppers will also have the opportunity to purchase items in the Black Friday circular online before they can get in the store. On Black Friday you can go to the store and pick up your purchases. This is an exclusive online shopping opportunity. That means you can get Black Friday deals without having to deal with the headache of shopping with everyone else on Black Friday. Simply purchase your items the day before and pick them up. You can’t get any easier then that!

I dont think I could have passed up on the box of chocolate, I would have been eating it on the way home! And it’s a relief to get the shopping done early but it also doesn’t feel as Christmas-y
