Coming to theaters on Christmas day is a new DreamWork film directed by Steven Spielberg called War Horse. War Horse is an epic adventure. It is a tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War.
Here is the film’s synopsis:
War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land.
The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. “War Horse” is one of the great stories of friendship and war— a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is currently on Broadway. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history.
I have not seen the movie but I have heard that it is an amazing film. It’s one of the “must see” films of 2011. Make sure to bring plenty of tissues too. I hear that it’s a “tear jerker”.
Check out the movie’s trailer.
Steven Spielberg not only directed this film but he also produced it.
I thought my readers might be interested in checking out an interview with Steven Spielberg where he discusses his newest movie.

I saw a preview for this movie and thought the plot was kind of far-fetched. I dont have a horse so maybe if I did I’d feel differently but I think the characters make too big of a deal over an animal.

As a horse owner and trainer, I adore to see movies that shows the relationship and bond one can have with an animal, in this case, a horse. What I am not keen is people confuse fantasy with reality. Even though this movie by seeing the trailer (and other previous movies like The Horse Wisper) can inspire many to want to own, people don’t realize the actual true work and expense in owning a horse. Same thing with dogs and other animals that has leading roles into movies. It is magical to see such movies, but I cringe when I hear people buy a horse based on a movie thinking the turn out will be the same as the movie or book. For the movie, I really am looking forward to how Mr. Spielberg directed the war footage. He is a great director with amazing ideas.

I can not wait to watch this!! It looks sooo good. I’ll probably wait until it’s on Blu-Ray just because we really don’t go the theater that much. I bet I’m going to be crying when I watch it.
