Reality shows are all the rage these days. There is a reality show for just about anything you can think of – modeling, dating, make-up, nails, hair, extreme stunts, singing, dancing, pawn, drama-filled wives, cooking, baby beauty queens, moonshine makers, deep sea fishing, always drunk 20-somethings on the beach, hauling trucks across the ice… There is a reality show for just about everything.
My family and I don’t normally watch reality TV. I don’t like the drama that most of these shows stir up. I want to be entertained.
We do watch talent shows like Dancing with the Stars, Rising Star (only because I adore Josh Groban) and American Idol. These types of shows are entertaining and offer a little something for everyone. Plus they are “family friendly”. I want to be able to watch something with my kids.
Have you had a chance to catch the newest reality talent show yet? It’s called Fake Off. It airs on Monday nights at 10:00 PM (EST) / 9:00 PM (CST) on the truTV Channel. You’ll have to check your local TV guide for the channel.
Fake Off is made up of 10 teams of amazingly talented performers. Each week they are given a theme based on pop culture moments in history. The team has to create a dance routine based on their theme. They are allowed to use acrobatics, puppetry and technology too. Some of the themes have included video games, horror movies, romantic films and even the Winter Olympics.
Don’t think this is JUST a dancing competition. It’s so much more. You feel like you are watching a Broadway show because the teams go all out to entertain you. There are some seriously talented people on this show.
The show is hosted by Robert Hoffman (Step Up 2). The competition is judged by three judges – Chilli (from the group TLC), designer Michael Curry (Broadway’s Lion King) and Harry Shum Jr. (Glee).
Check out this video from the show to see just how amazing the dance teams are.
I have had the opportunity to watch a couple of episodes, including a sneak peek at Monday’s episode airing on November 10, 2014. One of the themes is action/adventure movies. Who doesn’t love action and adventure movies? I love that genre of movie.
When I think about action and adventure movies some that come to mind are the Stars Wars movie franchise, Raiders of the Lost Ark franchise and other films like Captain America, Speed, Natural Treasure and Transformers.
I made up a Pinterest board with some of my favorite action and adventure films as well as some other cool (and fun!) related things. You can check it out here.
The next episode of Fake Off is going to air on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 10:00 PM (EST) / 9:00 PM (CST). I am going to be watching it live and hosting a Twitter party. Please join me while we chat about the episode. I’ll be giving away three (3) $50 American Express (AMEX) gift cards.
