I’m not sure if men can relate, but I’m sure some women readers can. Have you ever had a very stressful and upsetting day that causes you to find solace in a pint of ice cream? Come on… admit it…I think just about everyone had downed an entire pint of ice cream at one point in their life. I sure have. I have some very comforting “friends” and their initials are “B” & “J”. 🙂
As you well know eating an entire pint of ice cream is not exactly a wise idea. That fat and calories alone are enough to make you totally regret it afterwards, and probably make you feel worst then you did before downing the entire pint.
What if I told you there is an ice cream on the market that is not only only 150 PER PINT (yes, you read that correctly) but also a healthier alternative to traditional ice cream.
It’s true!
The ice cream is called Arctic Zero and it truly is only 150 calories per pint. If you only consume 1/4th at a time then it comes to only around 37.5 calories per serving. WOW!
Arctic Zero is not truly ice cream in the traditional sense. It’s more like a protein shake, but in frozen form (or on a stick).
Arctic Zero is all natural, low carb, fat free, gluten free, lactose intolerant-friendly, a great source of fiber (8 grams of fiber per pint), and high in whey protein concentrate.
The first time I told my husband about Arctic Zero he said “Is must be flavor free too“, meaning Arctic Zero probably tasted gross.
My family had the opportunity to try out ALL of the Arctic Zero ice creams, as well as their ice cream bars.
Arctic Zero is available in the following flavors.
– Chocolate
– Chocolate Peanut Butter
– Coffee
– Cookies and Cream
– Mint Chocolate Cookie
– Strawberry
– Vanilla Maple
– Pumpkin Spice
I was actually excited to try out the Pumpkin Spice flavor. It just sounded really good and it’s perfect for the holiday season. Out of all of the Arctic Zero flavors we tried, Pumpkin Spice was my personal favorite. It actually tasted like pumpkin! I was really surprised. It’s like someone froze a pumpkin pie (without the crust) and turned it into ice cream. It was that good!
My next favorite was Strawberry. I’m not a fan of Strawberry ice cream but for some reason I really liked the Arctic Zero Strawberry. It tasted more like a frozen Strawberry sorbet then ice cream.
Arctic Zero is not like regular ice cream. My husband put it best when he said it was more like ice water. I guess that is because there is no dairy/cream in Arctic Zero, therefore it’s not going to be creamy like regular ice cream. It is a lot like ice water, but much thicker.
This ice cream does take a little getting used to, especially if you eat ice cream frequently. I guess you would say it’s an “acquired taste”. Some of the flavors were a hit with my family, others were a miss. Some family members liked some flavors where as other family members disliked the flavors. I can’t say that our family had one special favorite flavor.
I was hoping to like the Vanilla Maple more then I did. With it being the holiday season I thought the Vanilla Maple would be perfect to serve to my family. I think it needed more Maple. It just seem rather bland, unlike the Pumpkin Spice which was full of flavor.
Arctic Zero also has ice cream bars. Currently they are available in Chocolate and Vanilla and Strawberry and Orange Cream. The kids seemed to like the Chocolate and Vanilla bars just fine. They are eat coated in a thin layer of chocolate. It did take us a bit to try out the Strawberry and Orange Cream bars. Chocolate covered Strawberries are delicious. I knew that bar would be eaten. It was the idea of chocolate covered Orange Cream that put us off a bit. My kids did like the Strawberry bars (I thought they were OK). No one really cared for the Orange Cream ones. I don’t think we gave them a fair chance to be honest with you. I think we had it in our minds that the idea of chocolate covered Oranges didn’t sound good. So we psychologically programmed ourselves not to like them. Do you know what I mean?
The bars are only 85 calories each too!
Arctic Zero products all contain Whey protein. Protein as you know helps to make you feel full and satisfied. It’s also great for your muscles. The Whey protein found in Arctic Zero is an easy to digest and can quickly provide nourishment to muscles. Whey protein also helps to maintain a healthy immune system by increasing levels of glutathione in the body. It also stabilizes blood glucose levels by slowing the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream in turn reduces hunger by lowering insulin levels and making it easier for the body to burn fat.
Dare I say that Arctic Zero is actually a HEALTHY alternative to traditional ice creams? Aside from a smidgen of calcium, what benefits do you get from regular ice cream? NONE!
As I mentioned earlier, Arctic Zero is an acquired taste. I did very much enjoy the Pumpkin Spice flavor and a couple of other flavors my family seemed to enjoy. I would purchase it again when given the opportunity. I would feel better about my family enjoying something that also has health benefits compared to something that is nothing more then unnecessary fat and empty calories.
You can learn more about Arctic Zero at www.MyArcticZero.com. Arctic Zero products are found in health food stores like Mrs. Greens and Whole Foods (to name a few) across the country. There is a store locator on their website. They are also available on Amazon.com.
