I have a confession to make. I have never seen an episode of the Cartoon Network’s popular series Adventure Time, that is until now.
I have teenagers (14 and almost 17) and they watch Adventure Time on TV all the time. I can hear them laughing as they are watching it. They are teenagers – they hardly laugh, yet alone laugh out loud. Teens are usually moody and not amused (LOL).
My daughter (almost 17) actually asked me to get her the series on DVD for Christmas because she enjoys it so much (sadly we didn’t get it for her). That is why I jumped on the opportunity to review Adventure Time: The Complete Third Season which is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download TODAY (February 25, 2014).
I finally had the opportunity to watch the series. It’s certainly unique.
Adventure Time stars Finn, a human boy who dresses like some kind of a bear (or other animal). His best friend and sidekick is a talking dog name Jake who has magical powers and the ability to change his shape.
Another one of Jake’s friends is a cute little robot character name BMO.
The trio live in a fantasy place called the Land of Ooo. Other residents include the Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny, whom I met before and he’s an awesome guy), Princess Bubblegum and Marceline who is a Vampire Queen. These are definitely some interesting characters.
The show is done with hand drawn animation and is very colorful. The characters are not “typical” looking either.
Here is a couple of clips for your entertainment.
Each episode is approximately 10 minutes long. There are 26 episodes on the Blu-ray for the third season, as well as bonus features. The episodes include;

2. Morituri Te Salutamus
3. Memory of a Memory
4. Hitman
5. Too Young

26. Incendium
I have watched about half of them so far. I’m sorry if I can’t remember specific episodes by name.
My kids laughed a lot watching this Blu-ray set. My husband even chuckled a few times too. I found some things to be funny but overall I thought the show was just weird. 🙂 To be honest with you I didn’t like SpongeBob Squarepants the first few times I saw the show. Now I laugh hysterically at it. I guess it takes me a bit to catch up with what’s “hot”. LOL!
Bonus features include commentary for each episode (I am not a fan of commentary while watching movies/shows).
One bonus feature which is sure to appeal to Adventure Time fans is the slip cover for the Blu-ray and DVD which turns into a cute BMO figurine. I’d take a picture of ours but I have no idea where the slip cover is for the Blu-ray (I’m not sure what my kids did with it).
It’s cute and I’m sure I’ll warm up to it after I finish watching all 26 episodes. I know my kids enjoy it a lot so that is good enough for me.
Adventure Time: The Complete Third Season would make a great gift for the Adventure Time fan in your life. Look for it where ever Blu-rays/DVDs are sold.
Here is a brief video about the release of the third season on Blu-ray and DVD featuring a singing BMO.
