If you read my blog on a regular basis you will know that I love animals. We have five cats, a dog and some fish. If it were possible I would have a farm and/or an animal rescue facility. I believe that all animals deserve to be loved and treated with kindness and respect.
Our pets mean the world to us. I cannot imagine a life without them. I grew up with pets and intend on having them until I am a ripe old age.
If you are a parent or grandparent, I’m sure you would want to be prepared in case your child/grandchild gets injured. I know that I keep a lot of first aid supplies on hand.
Shortly before Christmas 12 years ago when our son was just over two years old he was running across the living room, tripped and hit his face on the corner of the coffee table, splitting open his lip. Thank goodness I was prepared and I was able to clean the wound and bandage so it stopped bleeding. Without first aid supplies it wouldn’t have stopped bleeding (the split was in an awkward place), plus it could have had the additional risk of getting infected.
Like most families we have our fair share of cuts, scraps, bug bites and burns. You must always be prepared – even when you are out and about. That is why keeping a first aid kit in your car is also equally important. Since pets are considered family members, do you have a first aid kit for them?
As a “mom” to five cats and a dog I am ashamed to say that I don’t have any first aid products on hand, with the exception of our youngest cat’s emergency inhaler (she has severe asthma). That is the only emergency supply we have. We have several leashes, collars, brushes and nail clippers but not one pet first aid item. :-(! I need to do something about that. After all, pets are subject to accidents and injuries too.
Once our cat Bella (the one with asthma) was playing around as a kitten and jumped off the dining room chair in attempt to jump onto a storage box that was near by. She missed and hit her head HARD on the wood floor. For a couple of minutes she couldn’t balance herself and when she tried to walk she kept falling over. She looked like she was having a stroke! I was so scared. Thankfully she was fine shortly after that. She still jumps all over the place, and sometimes misses the mark, but so far she hasn’t hurt herself (and I hope she never does).
Dr. Emmo’s is believes in being prepared everywhere. That is why they carry a line of first air products made specifically for pets. Dr. Emmo’s products are all-natural and anti-biotic free so they are safe to use on your pet. The products also contain a special antimicrobial solution that kills common bacteria, germs and fungi. The products are safe for use on all pets, of any age.
Dr. Emmo’s has a dog name Scout, who happens to be the brand’s logo too. Scout is like most dogs. He loves to rough house and play around and occasionally he gets a scrape. It happens.
“Scout’s motto is “be prepared everywhere” and that’s a great reminder for all pet owners that they should be ready to treat minor cuts, scrapes and skin irritations,” said Ron Shay, Chief Operating Officer for Dr. Emmo’s. “These products offer a safe, simple and effective way to handle some of the most common first aid needs for pets, and could even help prevent these minor problems from turning into larger issues that could require costly treatment by a veterinarian.”
As someone who has spend upwards of $5,000 in the past year at the vet and vet specialists for our asthmatic cat (she has other health issues) and our Diabetic cat, the less time (and money!) I need to spend at the vet the better. Dr. Emmo’s carries a Wound Care Spray, Wound Care Gel, Ear Care Rinse and an Eye Care Wash.
The products are simple to use and anyone can use them.
Dr. Emmo’s Wound Care Spray Wash is intended to be the first of a two-step process for the treatment of pets with minor cuts, scrapes and skin irritations. This fine cleansing spray works to thoroughly rinse, remove and flush bacteria in all minor pet wounds. The second step in this wound care system is the application of Wound Care Spray Gel to the wound site. This easy to apply gel with its viscous formulation is intended to stick to the wound site, keeping the wound clean and protected throughout the healing process.
I think the wound care products are something most pet owners should keep on hand.
I used to have a cat when I was a young girl. She was an indoor/outdoor cat. She came home one day with deep cuts on her. We didn’t know if she was in a fight with another animal or got caught up on something. My mom cleaned out the wounds with soap and warm water and then poured peroxide on them. A couple of them got infected and she ended up at the vet. I wish we had products like Dr. Emmo’s wound care spray and gel. Perhaps the gel would have kept her wounds from getting infected and would have saved my parents a trip to the vet.
I would never think to keep an ear rinse and eye rinse on hand for our pets. I know that they can get ear mites, but I didn’t know that they could get a wax build up. I guess I’ve been lucky so far because the vet has never mentioned any of them having a problem with that (and I hope they never do). Still, it seems like a good product to keep on hand just in case.
An eye rinse is another product I would never think to keep on hand for our pets. I guess it doesn’t hurt to be prepared. Dust, smoke, cleaning supplies… I’m sure there is a possibility these things could bother a pet’s eye.
The Ear Care Rinse offers immediate relief to wax build up and pesky irritations of the ear. Dr. Emmo’s “new” Eye Care Wash is an antibiotic-free formulation designed as a “one-step”, all-natural, topical eye care rinse for use in all animal eyes. It relieves eye irritation, burning, scratching while killing 99.9% of bacteria/germs.
Dr. Emmo’s put a lot of time and research into the products he developed. I like that he put pet safety first and made extra certain that these products would not harm a pet in any way.
All of Dr. Emmo’s first aid products use a highly effective and safe technology to fight infections that can be caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi pathogens. Dr. Emmo’s technology works in the same way that a pets immune system works to seek out pathogens and then surround and kill them using Hypochlorous acid (HOCL). Dr. Emmo’s first aid products deliver a safe and highly effective level of HOCL at optimal pH levels to effectively kill pathogens and prevent the health risk that they can cause.
Dr. Emmo’s products are not to replace your vet. If your pet is severely injured or experiencing health issues you must take the to the vet right way. These products are the first line in wound care, they do not fully replace a vet. What I mean is if your child falls and scrapes their knee you would tend to the wound yourself. The child wouldn’t need to see a doctor until there is a deep cut, it gets infected or something serious along those lines. The same applies to Dr. Emmo’s pet first aid products. They treat and care for the minor things so you don’t have to pay for a vet visit to clean out a cut on your pet’s paw or remove a waxy build up in their ears.
If you don’t have a pet first aid kit now is a great time to make one because Dr. Emmo’s is offering 20% off their products.
“We believe that these are four products that every pet owner should have in their first aid kit and that is why we are making this promotional offer to everyone that visits our website,” added Shay.
To take advantage of this special offer visit the Dr. Emmo’s website, www.DrEmmos.com. Add the items you want to purchase into your shopping cart and upon checkout enter in the code “Scout1” to receive a full 20% discount on your entire order.
In addition Dr. Emmo’s is going to donate 5% of the sale proceeds to National and Regional Rescue Dog Centers and Organizations.

What a great idea. When I had pets I never even thought about something like this. If I do get another pet, I will definitely have to get some of these to be prepared.
I never even crossed my mind to have stuff on hand for pets. Thanks for posting about this, Kimberly!
Gosh this just makes so much sense! I hate to admit it but I don’t have emergency first aid items for my kitties. These look like great products!
I should get some of this to have on hand in case something happens with Waffles!
Many years before I was a nurse, I had to revive my Yorkie with mouth-to-snout resuscitation. He was very old but old or young, these items you featured are needed.
Now that I have adopted to new family members from the shelter, I will have to pick up some first aid supplies for them. it never even crossed my mind! Thanks Kimberly!
I have a complete first aid ket at home for my dog that I made up and also keep emergency supplies in my car that include an extra slip leash, self sticking bandage, tweezers, gauze…pretty much similar to mine, but a few extras just for Pets.
I also keep it on hand for a stray I may see and try to rescue
I’ve got to get this for my Pekingese, Skye. Lately she’s been on this exploring the city alone phase by crawling under the gate in my backyard. She then sits at the end of the gate and its to be let back in after shes “done” her traveling lol. I’ve tried several methods to prevent her from escaping, and finally one works! I’m hoping she doesn’t find a way out of this one because I’m always terrified she’ll get hurt or worse.
my cat’s paws get cut sometimes when she plays. this would be great for that
