Summer is here (although not “officially” for a few more days – June 21st). Already it’s way too hot and humid for me. I already keep the curtains closed, have the AC cranked and refuse to leave the home unless I have to. I am not a fan of the heat or humidity.
Because I don’t like to go out much during the summer months I need to find indoor things to keep me and my family entertained. I have my blog, and I like to read and occasionally do crafts or projects around our home. I also tend to watch a lot of television. Sadly all of our favorite shows are on hiatus which leaves us with repeat after repeat. This is why we end up watching a lot of movies during the summer months. It entertains us and we don’t have to be bored with the same repeats we’ve already seen a dozen times.
Thank goodness for Movies on Demand (MOD). They have a lot of great titles coming out this summer that is sure to keep both my husband and I entertained, as well as our whole family.
Movies on Demand plays a lot of current movie favorites, movies that come out the same day as they do in theaters and even movies before they come out in theaters.
Personally I think steaming movies is the way to go. It’s a lot less expensive then taking a lot of people to the theater, you don’t have to worry about standing online for tickets, wasting gas to get to/from the theater or even go outside and brave the summer heat. It’s a lot easier to order a movie to watch on your TV, gather your family around and even a few friends, make some snacks at home (the concession stand at the theater is $$$) to enjoy as you watch the movie.
To give you an example, for my family of four to go to theater it would cost $12 per person for a ticket ($48) and at least $15 per person for snacks – popcorn or candy and soda or water ($60). That means for my family of four it would cost around $100 to go see a movie in the theater, not taking into account gas and the time it take to get to/from the theater.
Don’t get me wrong. I love going to the movie theater. Sometimes there are movies that you must see on the big screen. But from a practical point of view it’s not always financially feasible to go to the theater with your family.
Most Movie on Demand movies cost between $2.99 – $5.99 depending on your local provider and the movie title. Generally these are the prices.
- New Releases: $3.99 – $4.99
- HD Releases: $4.99 – $5.99
- 3D: $6.99
- Early Screening or In Theater Titles: $6.99 and up
- Library Titles: $1.99 – $3.99
Remember, these prices may vary depending on your provider.
Which makes better sense… Spending $100 to take my family to the theater or $4.99? I think that is a “no brainer”. Plus you don’t have to venture outside in the heat and humidity.
Movies on Demand is a great option for those days that are just too hot and humid to be outside. Plus you don’t have to worry about late fees or having to wait for a movie to arrive in the mail.
There are plenty of great titles to choose from and they are always adding to their line up. Here are just a few available titles.
Coming soon…
