Now that spring is finally here, many people are doing their annual spring cleaning. For some that just means cleaning a little deeper than you might normally clean on a daily/weekly basis. For others, spring cleaning means purging your home of stuff you no longer need/want, repainting and/or redecorating.
I usually do a little bit of everything. In fact I do have a room that needs to be repainted (the bathroom). I purchased paint for it last June. It was suppose to be a summer project for our son LAST summer. It was never done. Nor has my husband attempted it in the past several months. Hopefully it will get done soon.
I take great pride in my home and I always want it to look warm and inviting. I want people to walk into our home and automatically feel right at home.
I love pretty things. I also have a quirky side to me so you’ll find odd things like my zombie garden gnome collection in our home and when you first enter you are greeted by a nearly life size Darth Vader and Yoda. LOL!
If there is one thing I can’t stand is blank walls. When we had our condo on the market a few years ago we took down all our photos and artwork from the walls and put them in storage down in my father’s basement upstate. We haven’t seen them since.
For many months I stared at blank walls. It drove me nuts. The first thing I did when we took our condo off the market was put things back up on the wall.
I love beautiful artwork. I tend to go for canvas prints because they are easy to swap out. I have a few pieces that I rotate throughout the year, depending on my mood or the holiday/season.
One of my favorite pieces comes from FramedArt.com. It’s called “Shades of Autumn” and it’s by the artist Kent Wallis. He paints the loveliest landscapes.
What I really like about FramedArt.com is that they provide you with information about the artist. For example, this is what I know about the artist who created my piece of artwork.
The artwork it’s self is original. FramedArt.com sells reproduction of the original piece of art.
FramedArt.com has a massive inventory of artwork to choose from. Anything you can think of probably has some artwork available for it.
You can search for artwork by room, style, subjects and there is even a section to provide you with inspiration for your home.
Once you find the perfect piece of art you can select from a variety of sizes, frame options and products (canvas print, framed print, art/poster print).
My photo is actually very small. I had selected the wrong size. It’s not really big enough to hang on the wall, so instead I have it on the bookcase, propped up against the wall. It works out just fine that way.
Artwork on your walls can be a wonderful addition to any home. You can add color and interest in any room with one or two pieces of art. I even have artwork hanging up in our bathroom. No room is off limits when it comes to art.
You can even do what I do and keep a few piece of art available to rotate with other pieces throughout the year.
My piece happens to be an autumn scene. Autumn is my favorite season so I leave it out. I think autumn landscapes are beautiful. I don’t put it in storage and rotate it with another piece.
I’m considering getting similar sized pieces of landscapes for the other season (spring, summer and winter). Then I might swap out the canvas prints for each season.
Art work is not only a great way to add to your home’s decor, they also make great gifts.
