Now available on DVD is season one of the popular Hallmark Channel series Cedar Cove. Cedar Cove is the first ever original scripted series based on bestselling novels.
Cedar Cove is based on the novels by author Debbie Macomber. Debbie Macomber writes A LOT of novels, many of which end up on the New York Times Best Seller List.
I have to admit that I’ve never watched the series on the Hallmark Channel. I have seen commercials for it. It must air when another show my family watches also airs.
I have wanted to see the series. I think Andie MacDowell is lovely and the scenery looks beautiful. Thankfully I have been able to catch up on season one because its now available on DVD.
Relive every touching moment of the “uncynical, lulling and sweet” (People Magazine) drama, when “Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove” Season One captivates on DVD July 15 from Cinedigm. Starring Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Hallmark Channel’s first-ever original scripted series is based on the bestselling book series by #1 New York Timesbestselling author, Debbie Macomber, a leading voice in women’s fiction with more than 160 million copies of her books in print. “Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove” was number one in its time slot during its entire first season run, elevating Hallmark Channel to the number one cable network on Saturdays from 8-9 pm.
Co-starring Dylan Neal (50 Shades of Grey) and filled with breathtaking scenery, the touching drama follows municipal judge Olivia Lockhart (MacDowell) who resides in the small town of Cedar Cove. Recovering from both a divorce and the death of her son, Lockhart works to find a balance between the challenges of her family and her career, while a potential new romance arises.
Season two airs on July 20, 2014.
The scenery is breathtaking! I want to live in Cedar Cove. It’s a beautiful seaside town. It’s idyllic. The background and scenery really adds to the show. It’s almost like one of the main characters, if that makes any sense?
This is a Hallmark Channel series so you know that it’s “family friendly” for the most part. Some of the story lines might not be for children/teens but you don’t have to change the channel quickly when a child enters the room in fear they might see nudity or hear bad language.
There are a lot of romance woven in and out the story lines and each episode. There is also drama including divorce, estranged family members and death.
This is a lot like a soap opera, but a “lighter” version. Soap operas these days are too intense and involve drugs, murder, infidelity and a lot of sex. You will not see that on Cedar Cove. It’s like a “G” version of a soap opera.
Now that I have had a chance to catch up with Cedar Cove I am hooked on the series and plan on catching episodes of Season Two. I need to keep up with what is going on in Cedar Cove. 🙂
Cedar Cove: Season One on DVD comes with 3 discs. There is over 500+ minutes of Cedar Cove in the collection as well as a Behind the Scenes featurette which is worth watching if you have the chance.
The DVD retails for $24.95 but I have seen it on Amazon for $19.99. It’s well worth every penny.
Whether you are a fan of the series, or a fan of Debbie Macomber’s stories, you are sure to enjoy Cedar Cove: Season One. Look for it where ever movies are sold.
Here is a promo for the series in case you are not familiar with it.
