There are so many reasons to celebrate in our lives, from engagements to weddings, and from the birth of a child to graduation from college, and so many reasons in between.
It’s not uncommon for people to pop open a bottle of bubbly and toast to the occasion. Friends also love to get together and enjoy a glass of wine or too while they kick back, relax and chit chat with friends.
Not everyone can enjoy an alcoholic beverage. Personally I can’t. I used to be able to drink, and I partied like the best of them when I was a young adult Due to surgery and medication, I cannot consume alcohol anymore.
When I get together with friends and family and someone breaks out the wine or other alcoholic drinks, I feel left out. I want to “cheer” right along side them. Sadly, cheering with a glass of water or soda is not the same.
Other people can’t consume alcohol due to their fight against alcoholism. I for one would never bring alcohol around someone who is a recovering alcoholic. I would not want to put them in an uncomfortable position.
So how can you celebrate the good times life has to offer without alcohol, but something better than water, soda or juice?
Let me introduce you to Jøyus.
Jøyus is 100% woman and sober owned business.
Jøyus beverages do not have that overly sweet, or grape juice taste like other non-alcoholic wines.
These are delightfully dry and complex alcohol-removed wines won two awards at The San Francisco International Wine Competition and another at the International Wine and Spirits (IWSC) in London.
Jøyus is also in PureWow’s 10 Best Non-Alcoholic Wines of 2022, Taste-Tested for best still rosé, and recommended in Chilled Magazine for a dealcoholized wine option.
The brand’s mission is simple: help people everywhere on their sober journey. Maybe that’s for an hour, a night, 9 months, or the rest of your life. No matter how long, no matter the reason, Jøyus’s got your back.
The brand was kind enough to send me a couple of bottles to try out for myself. I received to review the brand’s Sparking Rose and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Sparking Rose
Oh this is SO GOOD!
I am not a fan of the fruity non-alcoholic beverages (like the kind you find at the grocery store). Those types taste too much like grape juice to me. Not this beverage. It’s so good! It’s full of flavor and reminds me of white wines I used to drink.
I could drink this entire bottle by myself! I didn’t do that. I shared with my kids (both in their mid-20’s). My son is not much for any type of alcohol with the exception of the rare cider-like drink he occasional gets when we’re out to dinner.
My daughter loves wine, and her boyfriend is an alcoholic. She said she would purchase this wine and enjoy it with him since it’s “safe” (as she called it) for him to drink this.
This is a great drink for a summer get together. This would be perfect to take with you to a picnic, especially places where alcohol is not allowed (I know many parks don’t allow it).
This is sparkling. I’m okay with sparkling. I would prefer it not to be sparkling, but this does make a great non-alcoholic champagne-type drink.
I’m so impressed by this drink.
Cabernet Sauvignon
WOW! WOW! WOW! You would never guess this was not a real wine beverage. This alcohol-less wine is full in flavor. It’s really rich and fruity, but NOT like a fruit juice. It tastes exactly the way I remember Cabernet Sauvignon tasting. I was more of a white wine drinker, but I have had a few glasses of this type of wine over the years, and from what I can recall, this tastes exactly like what I remember.
I bet if you put a glass of this next to an alcoholic version it would be difficult to tell them apart.
Kudos to Jøyus. I don’t know how they managed to get all the flavors into this beverage, but without the alcohol. I’m amazed!
The brand carries other types of non-alcoholic wines, including bundle packs.
