Slimes… are you a fan of them?
The kids I work with are CRAZY about slimes. They are always asking me to bring in the materials so they can make some. As much as I like to make the kids happy, I’ve made slime before with little kids and it turns out into a huge mess.
I like the feel of slimes (especially “cloud” and “butter” slimes). I find them very relaxing to play with. I prefer to purchase slimes pre-made rather than make it myself.
I was recently introduced to the slime brand OG Slimes. They have some of THE COOLEST slimes I have ever seen.
Here is a brief synopsis of the brand;
OG Slimes is making slime edgy in 2023! OG Slimes elevated the slime game by creating one-of-a-kind, non-toxic slimes in various colors, scents, and textures. Bringing new themed slimes every week, slime lovers can enjoy old favorites like grandma’s cookies or new editions weekly. OG Slimes can be used as a small toy to play around with in your hand for a fun, sensory activity or mix and create new colors or themes to play with later. All are made with non-toxic materials for safe exposure. Shop OG Slimes’ amazing slime collection now for every festivity!
I love that each week they offer a special slime. The slimes sell out quickly (which doesn’t surprise me), so it’s best that you purchase the slime you want as soon as it “drops” on the brand’s website.
Take for example the slimes currently available at OG Slimes.
Oh my goodness, are they not the cutest slimes!
The Ducky Ring Toss is perfect for this time of year seeing as how there are plenty of carnivals and fairs going on where you can play the Ducky Ring Toss game. We’re heading to a fair next month and will most likely play this game too.
The Apple Bobbing slime is adorable too. Just look at all those apple “charms” that come with it.
Some other slimes currently available include Fried Sponge Cake, Spicy Ramen, Churro Dust, Salad, Cloud 9, Birthday Cake, Dryer Lint, Eucalyptus Fluff and Witch’s Kitten Fur, to name a few.
The brand’s slimes come in different colors with a fun assortment of “charms” and more included.
OG Slimes sent me a couple of their slimes to check out for myself. I received to review their You Forgot the Pickles and Lavender Sugar Scrub.
The slime, You Forgot the Pickles, looks like ground beef (in my opinion). I’m not sure if that was the look the brand was going for or not, but it does make sense because you put pickles on burgers.
This slime came with a cute set of “pickles” that you can squeeze and mold into the slime (it didn’t effect the color of the slime).
According to the brand;
Scent: Pickle Juice
Texture: Jelly Snowfizz
Slime level: Intermediate
My daughter says it smells like ketchup. I don’t know how she gets ketchup from pickle juice, but that is what she smells. I honestly don’t smell pickle juice. It does have a pleasant scent, so I’m okay with that.
I am not a “slime pro,” so I don’t know what the texture is or the “slime level.” That might mean something to those who are really into slime (I have some kids at work that are “slime professionals,” ha ha).
I hates squeezing the little pickles into it, but I ended up doing that.
The Lavender Sugar Scrub slime has a different texture than the other slime I received to review. It has a more course texture. Initially I didn’t like it, but the more I used it, the more I enjoyed it.
I really like the scent of this slime. It’s a lavender coconut scent. I actually smell more of the coconut than I do the lavender, but my daughter says she smells the lavender more. I guess everyone is different.
Scent: Lavender Coconut
Texture: Bingsu
Slime level: Advanced
I have no clue what “bingsu” means. I have never heard of that term before.
Both slimes were too sticky to use when I first received them. Thankfully the brand sent along the mix you need to add to the slime to make it less sticky. You simply add the power (Borax?) to a cup of water, then work it into your slime until it’s no longer sticky. Now both slimes are perfect every time we’ve used them.
I keep them on my desk. Me, my daughter and son (both young adults) play with them from time to time. My husband doesn’t like how they feel.
My daughter tells me that they use slime with the children at the clinic where she works (she works with children who are on the autism spectrum and kids with behavioral issues).
Slime is not just for children. Adults can enjoy slime too.
Because these slimes are so unique, they would make a great gift. You could also bring these along on long trips to keep kids occupied.
