The Classic Power Puff Girls are Back! (giveaway ends 3/18/17)

Are you familiar with the adorable, mini-superheroes, The Powerpuff Girls? Just in case you are not, here is a brief synopsis of the cartoon series.

The Powerpuff Girls centers on three sugar-coated superheroes, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, whose missions in life alternate between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime. The girls are frequently called upon by the town’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. While their differences cause them to squabble and tease, their individual strengths combined always lead them to victory. They rely on teamwork, trust, and friendship to thwart evil (in the most adorable way).

When our daughter was in elementary school (she’ll be 20 this year!), her and her two best friends were totally into The Powerpuff Girls. In fact, they referred to themselves as such. It worked out perfectly too because my daughter has dark hair (“Buttercup”) and her other friend had really blonde hair (“Bubbles”) and the third friend dark blonde hair (“Blossom”).

You can see a picture of our girls (above). One of them is wearing a The Powerpuff Girls t-shirt. I blurred out the faces of my daughter’s friends to protect them. My daughter looks nothing like she did back then.

Somewhere in one of the “baby boxes” I have a drawing that one of the girls did of The Powerpuff Girls. I made copies of it so each girl could have one and I hung my daughter’s up on her bedroom wall. It actually turned out really good. I don’t recall which girl drew it but it turned out great.

One of the moms even purchased The Powerpuff Girls t-shirts for our daughters to wear. I know we still have that shirt in our daughter’s baby box too. They are great memories from her youth. I can’t believe all three girls are in college now and 20 years old (or close to it).

Needless to say we watched The Powerpuff Girls all the time. We enjoyed the show. It wasn’t annoying or overly silly like some kiddie shows were back then. It was fun and entertaining. My husband thought that the monkey, Mojo Jojo, was  super funny.

The Powerpuff Girls debuted in 1998 and the show ran through 2005. There was a 10th anniversary special, and a re-boot, but nothing beats the original series.

I can’t wait to share this news with my daughter. She’s going to be thrilled. I wonder if she’ll let her Powerpuff Girl friends know about it too (I know she’s in a college class with one of them). Maybe they can get together and have a sleepover and watch a marathon of The Powerpuff Girls.
