If you are looking for a fun, family friendly movie for your next “Family Movie Night”, you might want to consider a new movie out on DVD called Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey.
In Curious George 2, Ted (otherwise known as “the man in the Yellow hat”) is up for a job promotion at the museum where he works. Because he is so focused on getting this new position he feels like he owes it to Curious George to take him some place special. Curious George wants to go to see the Piccadilly Circus which came to town.
While at the show the Piccadilly magician calls Curious George up on stage to take part in his act. Once the magic happens Curious George finds himself backstage with Piccadilly’s star performer Kayla the Elephant.
Purely by accident Curious George opens up a door that leads outside and him and Kayla decide to take a stroll together. Kayla seemed so sad to Curious George so he thought he would find ways of cheering her up.
Once Mr. Piccadilly realizes that Kayla is missing he alerts the authorities and the news. It’s while watching a segment about them on TV Curious George realizes that Kayla is unhappy because she misses her older brother and sister who are at an animal park in California. The pair then head out to reunite the siblings.
When Ted finds out that Kayla wants to go back to California he helps her to get on a train heading West. By accident Ted and Curious George end up on the train too. Now the trio finds themselves on a train heading to California. Ted is worried that he won’t make it back in time to make an important presentation to the board in regards to the possible promotion.
Unbeknown to the trio Mr. Piccadilly hires a Government Investigator name Danno Wolf to find Kayla and bring justice to the situation by putting Ted and Curious George behind bars.
Will Kayla ever be reunited with her siblings? Will Danno Wolf capture Ted and Curious George and throw them behind bars? Will there be a happy ending? You’ll just have to rent or purchase the movie to find out.
Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey is available where ever DVDs are sold.
There are bonus features on the DVD worth checking out too including two never before seen episodes from the Curious George TV series. There is also a cute music video.
Parents will be happy to know that the DVD also comes with printable coloring pages you can share with your children and a cute little game. The game has two parts to it. The first part is almost like a puzzle game where you have to match the shapes of the missing states (and learn a few trivia things along the way). In the other part of the game you need to help feed Kayla by selecting the plates that have the most food on it.
Overall I think this was a really cute movie. Of course Curious George is adorable, as is the other animals in the movie including Mr. Piccadilly’s silly duck. I like that the movie is all about friendship and helping others. It’s a wholesome, funny, adventurous movie your whole family is sure to enjoy.
