Get ready for another fun adventure with everyone’s favorite villain, Gru in the latest installment to the popular franchise – Despicable Me 3.
All of the beloved characters are back for the third installment – Gru, Lucy, Agnes, Margo, Edith and of course the Minions.
Gru is not working as an “anti-villain” for the Anti Villain League (AVL). Him and his new wife Lucy are sent on a mission to stop a villain named Balthazar Bratt, a former child star that is now evil. He is trying to steal the world’s largest diamond.
Gru and Lucy are unsuccessful and are eventually fired from the AVL.
Gru and Lucy have to find a new form of employment to support their family. In addition, Lucy has to find a way of becoming the girl’s mother – something that she is not familiar with.
Unbeknownst to Gru he has a twin brother named Dru. Dru resides in another country.
Gru’s mother confirms that he does indeed have a twin brother. When her and their father divorced they each took one child (kind of like the film Parent Trap).
Gru, Lucy and the girl’s set off to Freedonia (where Dru lives) to meet him. In the meantime the Minions decide to part ways with Gru because he is no longer evil.
Gru’s brother is overly sweet and happy – the opposite of Gru. He’s also super wealthy, thanks to their father’s past evil deeds.
Their father disowned Dru for being so nice. He asks Gru to help him be evil. Gru uses this to his advantage in hopes that his brother can help him to get back the diamond that Bratt managed to steal. Gru hopes this will put him back in good terms with AVL in hopes of getting him and Lucy’s job back.
Will Gru and Dru succeed, or will something happen to throw the brother’s off track? Will Dru finally turn evil? What will Gru do – go back to being evil or stay on the good side? And what about the minions? Will they return to Gru or will they go on their merry way? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Despicable Me 3. Look for it where ever movies are sold.
Sometimes new movies in a popular franchise are not as wonderful as the original film. Case in point, Toy Story 2 was not nearly as good as the original Toy Story. They made up for it with Toy Story 3.
I loved Despicable Me. It’s a wonderful movie that I have seen at least two dozen times. Despicable Me 2 was good, but not as good as the original.
I honestly didn’t give Despicable Me 3 enough credit before watching it. I didn’t think it was going to be as good. I was way wrong. Despicable Me 3 is way better than the second film. It’s like Toy Story all over again.
This film has plenty of humor, which is expected in these films. We had several laugh out loud moments. The Minions and the girls are especially funny.
I like that there was a bit more of a story line (actually a couple of them) in Despicable Me 3. I like that the filmmakers touched upon Lucy getting used to being the mother to three little girls. They could have easily skipped over that, but instead they opted to address it. In real life it would be hard for someone with no experience with children to become an instant mother. Lucy has to deal with a lot of those issues and insecurities.
Agnes and her “unicorn” is just to cute too.
There are a lot of bonus features. If you have the time I recommend you watch them. They are worth your while.
