I love to share offers with my readers, especially ones that involve children AND freebies. Even better, offers for FREE BOOKS!
I love to find way to encourage children to read. Sadly my kids are older now and its hard to to get them to read when they don’t want to (or outside of assigned books from school).
One thing that always enticed my kids to read was an unexpected book, such as a purchase from a Scholastic Book Fair (they love those!) or a book I happened across and purchased for them that they didn’t expect. Even books on a favorite subject prompted them to want to read.
Gardening is not something that my kids ever expressed interest in. I guess since we live in a condo with no yard that has a lot to do with it. When I tried to plant a garden on my balcony they showed interest, especially when my crops yielded miniature veggies (it was the funnies thing! I have to find those pictures).
I have always expressed my desire to have a garden, just like my great-grandfather had (he used to live next door to me growing up). As soon as we have a house and a yard I have every intention of planting a garden filled with veggies (corn, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, green beans…) and another one for pumpkins and/or watermelons. I also plan on planting strawberries and if our yard is big enough an apple tree or two. I also want to plant flowers and shrubs, especially Lilac bushes.
If your child has shown interest in gardening I think you might like this FREE offer from Dig.Drop.Done. You can get a FREE gardening themed book from Scholastic for your child (or you can donate it to your child’s classroom) when you purchase any Dig.Drop.Done package of bulbs.
Here is what you need to do:
- From August 1 – November 30, 2012, purchase any package of Dig.Drop.Done bulbs in order to qualify.
- Complete this REDEMPTION FORM, cut out the Dig.Drop.Done logo from the package and mail both to Scholastic:
Dig.Drop.Done Book Offer
557 Broadway
PO Box 711
New York, NY 10013
- On this form, you will need to provide your contact information and indicate the grade-range of your child (or students) so we can send you an age-appropriate book.
It’s that easy. But the promotion ends on November 30th, so you must hurry! You must make a qualifying purchase by that date.
The program will end on November 30, 2012 – or when 1,000 books have been awarded (as far as I know they have not met that quota yet).

Who doesn’t love FREE books. This is a great offer if your child has interest in gardening (or perhaps even farming). Or if you want to start your child’s love of gardening a book along with some seeds and parental guidance and instruction would be a fun way to instill a love of gardening in your child (or grandchild). Of course classrooms always appreciate new books to their classroom libraries too.
