Now available at your favorite digital retailer, as well as on Disney+, is the film Haunted Mansion. The movie will be available on Ultra 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on October 17, 2023.
Haunted Mansion (2023) stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Standfield, Chase Dillon, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Winona Rider, and Marilu Jenner, to name a few. As you can see, the film has an impressive cast.
Gabbie (Dawson) and her son Travis move from New York City to New Orleans for a fresh start after the loss of her husband. They move into a huge mansion in the middle of nowhere. They purchased the home dirt cheap, and they quickly learn the reason why – it’s haunted. Not by one ghost, but by many spirits, each with different personalities.
Ben (Standfield), a local paranormal New Orleans tour guide is hired by Gabbie to help rid the home of the ghosts. Ben cannot do it all alone, so he enlists the help of a Father Kent (Wilson), psychic medium Harriet (Haddish) and college professor Bruch (DeVito).
Why is the mansion haunted? Why so many ghosts? What can be done to rid the home of all the spirits so that Gabbie and her son can lead normal lives? To find out, check out the Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion is one of my all time favorite rides at the Disney parks. I especially love the ballroom and how you can see a “ghost” sitting in the car with you. If you have never been on the ride before, I highly recommend it.
I never saw the original Haunted Mansion movie, staring Eddie Murphy. Admittedly I never saw that version. I cannot compared the two. One day I’ll watch it.
This is not a scary movie. Maybe for little ones. It’s rated PG-13 and is seen as a horror/comedy film. I saw this more as a comedy, but for those who don’t like ghost movies, please know that this is all about ghosts.
I really enjoyed this film. First and foremost the acting was really good. I was especially impressed by young Chase Dillon. He’s only 13 years old. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from him in the future. Incidentally he co-stared in another film with Standfield (The Harder They Fall).
This is a Disney film, so you know they went all out with the special effects, and they did not disappoint. The way they did the ghosts is amazing. I was most excited to see the ghosts I loved from the ride come to life on the screen.
I really liked the storyline. I don’t know if the Haunted Mansion ride ever had a backstory (at least not that I remember – I haven’t been on the ride in 22 years). I like the way its explained in the film. I think the next time I am in Disney and I go on the ride I am going to remember this film and the story line. I think that is going to make the ride more enjoyable.
Haunted Mansion has a run time of two hours and three minutes.
