Summer time. Well, not officially, but once Memorial Day weekend hits, everyone is in the “summer state of mind.” I’m not a big fan of the summer as an adult (I’m don’t care for the heat and humidity), but as a child, summer was the best time of the year. Me and my cousins had so much fun – building forts in the woods, going on adventures, camping, staying up late all night, catching fireflies, swimming in our grandparents pool… I could go on and on about all the fun things we used to do. Even something as simple as running through the sprinkler, or soaking ourselves with the garden hose was so much fun.
This summer, why not give your child/grandchild something fun to play with that is soapy, sudsy, and splashy – which is also safe to use. It’s the award-winning Föm Mania™ Fömalanche™ ($49.99).
Fömalanche, what’s that you might be asking yourself (I know I did the first time I heard the name). The “alanche” part makes me think of an avalanche for some odd reason.
Föm Mania Fömilator was selected as a finalist by judges of the 2022 TOTY (Toy of the Year) as the best toy designed for outdoor play. Föm Mania Fömilator parent company is Little Kids, Inc. This of the Föm Mania Fömilator as a bubble bath… but without the bath part. Föm Mania Fömilator is a lightweight, easy to use machine that creates perfectly foamy and fluffy foam. Kids can run through the foam, toss it in the air, put it on their head (like a new hairdo) or just about anything else they can think of.
I was sent a Föm Mania Fömilator to review. I also purchased additional solution so that we didn’t run out.
The machine comes with three packages of foaming solution. You can purchase additional solution on Amazon (four pack) and Target (single pack). I picked up a four pack from Amazon just so I knew I had enough for the kids at work.
Föm Mania Fömilator also requires six (6) D batteries (not included). I know that seems like a lot, but honestly, it’s so much nicer to be able to move this around and take it anywhere you want and not have to be bothered trying to find a place to plug it in or drag around an extension cord with you.
This is super easy to set up and use. The only problem I encountered was finding a screw driver that would fit inside the holes for the battery cover so I could open it up and insert the batteries. You need a long screw driver to open it. Thankfully my husband had one.
To use the foam machine, simply unscrew the bottom part of the machine. Add in the solution and fill the remainder of the reservoir with water. Please use room temperature water. When I tried this with cold water the foam didn’t seem to work as well.
After you add in the water, screw the base back on (make sure the tubes go inside the reservoir). Then you are all set to enjoy some soapy, sudsy fun.
Press the power button (on top) and watch as the foam comes out of the front of the machine from a soft, fabric-like section.
I first tried this at home to see how it worked, and so I knew before taking it to work with me (kids can be so impatient). Since we don’t have a yard, I had to try it out in my living room.
As you can see from my photos, the Föm Mania Fömilator makes a lot of ideal foam bubbles. I stopped it before it made a mess in my living room (and before my cats took notice to it).
I was waiting to use this on one of our “long days” at work, meaning a day when kids are there longer than usual, since I knew they would want to play with this for a long time. They knew about it too, so they too were waiting to try it.
We had a “long” day yesterday, and I couldn’t hold it off any longer because the kids were anxious to give it a try.
We learned the hard way that the foam from the Föm Mania Fömilator and strong winds are NOT a great combination. Let’s just say it was windy enough to use kites yesterday (and we did), so that didn’t help us as far as the foam is concerned. It would blow away as soon as it left the machine.
The kids were able to play with the foam. The took turns scooping it up. Some opted to chase the large chunks of foam that would take flight and fly away.
You can see some of the foam flying away in one of the photos (above).
I let the kids play with this until the water and solution ran out. They wanted me to fill it up again, but I told them that we’ll wait and use it again on a day where it’s no so windy.
I think this is a really cool toy, and I wish I had something like this when I was growing up. What kid doesn’t love bubbles? Even though the foam wasn’t as much as it was suppose to be when we used the machine yesterday, because of the strong winds, the kids still had a blast with it.
Speaking of blast, there is also a Quickshot Föm Blaster which blasts fast-flinging Föm with easy pump and blast action that’s naturally kid-powered. Each Quickshot comes with 4 fl. oz of Föm concentrate that is non-toxic and boasts a tear-free formula. Plus, no batteries are required with the Quickshot! Kids (and kidults) just pump and aim for continuous foam fun.
I should also mention that the foam from Föm Mania dissolves on its own, leaving no clean up. The custodians at work were happy about that. They have enough to clean up (the neighborhood kids play in our playground and trash it often). They were happy when I told them that the foam would disappear and there would be no clean up involved.
