By now most kids have either started school for the very first time, or they are returning for another school year.
After a long summer of late nights, no homework and plenty of free time it’s often difficult to transition back to school. It can take a child weeks to get back on track.
Parents are also in the process of transitioning back to a regular school-year routine too.
Just because school is back in session doesn’t mean that fun and adventure comes to an end. KinderCare has a lot of great ideas, tips, crafts and more to have fun with your child year round.
My kids are teenagers. One is in college and the other is in high school. They have enough going on in their lives – they don’t need another adventure aside from balancing work, school and a social life.
I miss the first day of school excitement. It’s not the same when they start high school or college. Well… my daughter is going to a local college and living at home. If she was going far away it would be different.
My son is at the point where the first day of school pictures are not something he’s overly keen about taking, as you can see from above (that was the first day of his Sophomore year last year – he’s a Junior this year).
I paired one of my favorite first day of school photos of my kids with a photo of them taken at my daughter’s high school graduation this past June. Sigh… they grow up too quickly.
Thankfully I work with young children so I can still experience all the excitement of a new school year. In fact I just started a new job working with elementary aged children. For me that has been an adventure. I’m used to working with toddlers and babies.
I like KinderCare’s website because they always have a lot of great craft and activity ideas that I can utilize with the children that I work with. In fact they have a craft called “Feed the Birdies” that I plan on bringing up to the site director to see if we can do that with the kids we work with. I think they would really enjoy it and maybe we would be able to turn it into a lesson – like identifying birds.

KinderCare is also hosting a sweeps to celebrate the back to school season. It’s called KinderCare’s #FirstDayAdventures.
KinderCare will be giving three (3) lucky families cash prizes up to $1,200! That is more than enough to cover any school supplies, clothing and much more for the entire school year… and beyond.
To enter, all you need to do is submit a picture of your child’s first day of school – waiting for the bus, at the drop off point, right after she gets home, anything. Submit it on KinderCare’s #FIRSTDAYADVENTURES giveaway page (link below). After all, you were going to take a million pictures anyway, right?
And be sure to check out the rest of the Adventure Ahead website for simple and clever crafts ideas, engaging activities, and tips for transitioning back to school!
