Toys, toys, toys. This time of year toys are everywhere. After all, what do most kids want for Christmas? You guessed it – TOYS!
As a parent you can never be too careful when it comes to the toys that your children play with. As scary as it is you really need to be on top of the latest information in toy recalls and other important toy information.
If you want to know the latest toy recall information you will want to check out ToyInfo.org. ToyInfo.org lists all known toy recalls as well as includes images and contact information you can speak to in regards to the recalled toy. ToyInfo.org also provides you will all the information you need to choose the right toys for your family. From toy safety facts to free downloadable play guides, ToyInfo.org is a one-stop resource for caregivers and parents to discover everything about toys and play, and most importantly, safety.
You can sign up for e-mail alerts when a new recall is posted. You should also check out the interesting videos featured on the site. I think the section about the benefits of play was really “eye opening” and well worth reading.
Another toy related web site worth checking out is ToyAwards.org. Toyawards.org lists the best toys of the year, as selected by toy industry experts. The site showcases the top toys nominated for the 2010 Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY), recognized as the “Oscars®” of the toy industry. Not only will you discover which toys the experts think are best, but for the first time, kids and parents can register for one (or more) of 12 prize packages, and can also vote for their favorite toys.
I really liked the information they provide on the toys that are considered the “best of the best”. They had toys on there I have never heard of before. I was shocked that I am missing out on some terrific toys for my family.
I found it very interesting that in the best infant toys category they have My Pal Scout & My Pal Violet as one of the top toys. If you go to the ToyInfo.org web site it shows them as one of the recalled toys of the year (choking hazard). Very interesting…
I’m surprised that the Zhu Zhu Hamsters were not listed in one of the top toy categories. The EyeClops Mini Projector by Jakks Pacific is listed as a top toy. It’s one of the toys I wanted to try and get for my kids this year. It looked really cool.
There are FREE downloadable shopping guides that you can print out and take with you when you are shopping to know what toys are listed as the best for your child’s gender and age group.
As you are doing some last minute holiday shopping, or just want to double check the safety and educational value of the toys you already purchase, you will want to check out both www.ToyInfo.org and www.ToyAwards.org.
