I don’t know why but every Winter my skin gets super dry. Not just my hands either. My face, hands, body, feet… my skin is dry all over. Not only does it look bad it’s also uncomfortable. Especially when your skin feels itchy or dry and tight.
I slather on moisturizer on my hand and body all day long. When I shower I make sure to use products that sooth my irritated and dry scalp.
Finding the right products for your face is not as easy as it sounds. Some products are too greasy, leaving your skin looking and feeling greasy. Other products are SUPPOSE to help but end up just being a total waste of money.
I am a skin product “junkie”. I love to try beauty products. It’s a great way to find things that work, and don’t work. A lot of the products I use regularly are things I received to review and fell in love with so I have purchased them over and over again.
Not too long ago I was sent a few facial products to try out.
Lumene Vitamin C+ Dry Skin Comfort Radiance Cocktail: ($21.99 at CVS stores and Cvs.com): Improve skin’s moisture balance with this highly conditioning blend of cranberry seed oil and cloudberry, which revitalizes and nourishes even the driest skin, leaving it velvety soft and radiant.
My thoughts: First of all the product is cool to look at. There really is two levels of color – the top is gold and the bottom is a soft red/orange. Before you use the product you need to shake it up so that all the ingredients mix together. After you shake it the liquid turns into an interesting orange color. It also has a pleasant citrus scent.
This product is oil based so you MUST use it sparingly or it will leave your skin feeling greasy. It will eventually absorb into your skin, but the more you use the longer it will take. My teenage daughter made the mistake of using too much. She had to wash her face again after she applied it because being a teen her skin is normally a bit greasy and this only made it worse.
For me I liked the product. I made sure just to use a few drops. Initially your skin looks and feels greasy but once it’s absorbed it’s able to work it’s magic.
Aside from giving your skin a boost of moisturizer, this product gives you a little bit more. I’m not sure what it is but my skin seems to look more “live” and healthier after I’ve used the product for a few days. Not just the quality is improved, but my over all appearance looks much better. I don’t look as haggard as I did prior to using it.
You can use this product underneath your regular daily or nightly moisturizer. Out of all three of the products I think this one gives you more ‘bang for your buck”, so to speak. It moisturizes your skin AND gives your skin a much healthier appearance.
Sensitive Touch Arctic Aqua Moisture Booster ($14.99 at CVS stores and CVS.com): Infused with mineral-rich, pure Arctic spring water, this gel formula also contains natural hyaluronic acid to instantly improve skin’s hydration by up to 65%. A multi-tasking product, it helps even out fine lines and also works as a primer by smoothing skin’s surface.
My thoughts: What I like about this product is that a little bit goes a long way. It has a pump lid on it that delivers a small drop when you press on it. I usually end up using 2-3 drops for my entire face.
I was a bit concerned at first that this might weigh heavy on my face because it has a gel like consistency. But once applied you don’t even notice that you have it on.
When I read that this contained a natural hyaluronic acid I was also concerned. To me, acid is something that “burns”. I can’t see how you would need something like that in a moisturizing product. Whatever it does I’m not really sure, all I can say is that it doesn’t burn. If anything the gel feels good on your skin, especially after you’ve stepped out of a hot shower and your skin is feeling tight. It reminds me of splashing water on your face with the instant, soothing relief.
I like how my face feels after the product absorbs into my skin (in just mere minutes). It feels soft and smooth and I can tell that it’s moisturized. I really like this product.
Sensitive Touch 5 Minute SOS Cream ($19.99 at CVS stores and CVS.com): This highly reparative cream calms dry, irritated skin and diminishes redness. Developed with advanced skin-soothing technology, it immediately triples the moisture content and improves skin’s condition in just five minutes.
My thoughts: I love this product. It’s great for dry spots from your head to your toes. I wouldn’t use this all over my entire body (it would use it up quickly) but it’s perfect for really dry spots on your body. For example, the area between my pinky and ring fingers (both hands) tends to get dry patches (I wish I knew why those areas were prone to it). I just squirt a little of the cream on to the dry patches and rub it in and tada! The areas are moisturized and feel a million times better. I have even used this all over my hands for instant relief. Sometimes my hands get so dry that it’s hard to even function. That is not good when you use your hands on the computer to work. The 5 Minute SOS cream has been a lifesaver.
I have used this cream on dry patches on my face and neck too (I tend to get Eczema outbreaks on my scalp and neck).
I never actually timed it to see if my skin felt 100% better after 5 minutes. My skin tends to feel better the moment I apply it. It should be called Instant SOS Cream instead. 🙂
