Racing on to all movie viewing platforms (digital, Blu-ray, DVD and Ultra 4K) is the latest installment to the popular movie franchise, Fast and the Furious, known as Fast X.
Fast X brings back franchise regular Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris, Helen Mirren, Dwayne Johnson, and Jonn Cena. This film also brings back baddie Charlize Theron. Also staring in this film is Brie Larson and Rita Moreno. The cast member, in my opinion who really “stole the show,” is Jason Momoa. She makes Charlize Theron’s character “Cipher” look like a sweet kindergarten teacher. His character, “Dante Reyes” is the ultimate bad guy.
Life seems to be going great for Dom and his family. His son Brian (Leo Abelo Perry) is growing up and learning about cars and the “need for speed” from his father. All seems well until the LAST person they expect to reappear in their lives shows up – Cipher (Theron). Cipher (for some unknown reason) wants to warn Dom that him and his family are in serious danger because there is a worse evil than she is out there – Dante Reyes (Momoa). He’s hell bent on seeking revenge on his father’s death – a death he blames Dom on.
What ensures is a race around the world – from Italy to Brazil, and from LA to Antarctica. Dom and his family need to stop Dante before it’s too late. At the same time Dom has to protect the family that he loves. When it comes down to it, Dom has to make difficult decisions on who to save and who to let perish at the hands of a maniacal mad man.
Catch up on all the high octane action by purchasing or renting Fast X. Look for it where ever movies are sold/rented.
As I mentioned earlier in this post, I personally think Jason Momoa and his character Dante stole the show. He is a whole new level of crazy. Even though he’s a cold blooded killer, some of his actions and the things he says are comical (in a sick way). For example, chatting in the backyard with dead bodies while he does their nails. Or dancing around in the streets when he thinks he’s won.
As one would expect from this franchise, there is A LOT of insane car races and chases. You would think it would get boring after a while, but the film’s makers always find new ways of making it exciting.
My husband said that some of the car chase/race scenes look like they really could take place where as others are simply impossible. That is the appeal of the franchise – the impossible car chases/races.
One of my favorite parts of the film was the family chasing a giant bomb through the streets of Italy as it races towards the Vatican. That whole sequence was crazy – but in an awesome way.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite movies in the franchise. The original film (the “OG”) will always be my favorite, but Fast X is definitely in second place. The Fate of the Furious comes in third, for me.
The movie does manage to incorporate Paul Walker’s character Brian. How they do that is amazing to me. Sadly, he’s been gone for a decade already (seems like only yesterday).
There are some “blink and you’ll miss them” actors in this film. Debby Ryan for example appears for about 3 seconds. And some where in the film is Cardi B and Michael Roker. Paul Walker’s only child, Meadow, also appears in this film. I didn’t know that when I was watching the film, so I’ll have to look for her the next time we watch it.
Be sure to watch the film into the credits for an “Easter egg.” The film also had an ending that I did not expect. Let’s just day don’t be surprise is Dom and his family ride again…
