While I’m in a “As Seen on TV” state of mine (LOL) has anyone seen Fasta Pasta on TV? We have this and let me tell you it’s an ingenious idea!
I LOVE pasta! I could eat pasta morning, noon and night. I don’t because I know it’s not great for you (I’m trying to learn to love whole wheat pasta). Sometimes for lunch all I want is a little pasta and maybe a side salad but I am too lazy to drag out the pot, boil the water, drain the the colander and then do all the dishes afterwards. Fasta Pasta has come to the rescue! Now I’m able to have pasta for lunch whenever I want in as quickly as 1-2-3 and with little mess and clean up.
The Fasta Pasta container is a large rectangle shape (might not fit in small microwaves). All you need to do is add water to the fill line (which are not easy to be seen, sad to say, but I just play around with it) and add your pasta then pop it into the microwave for a few minutes. When it’s done you actually drain the pasta in the same container which means less pots and colanders to clean up.
In my house the Fasta Pasta has been a HUGE help, especially with my picky kids. If I’m making something for dinner that someone totally dislikes I will whip up a dish of pasta with sauce instead. The beauty of the Fasta Pasta is that it’s quick and easy so while I’m tending to the rest of the dinner I know that the Fasta Pasta is tending to the pasta.
It’s very handy for making side dishes too!
The Fasta Pasta is good for making small quantities of pasta. You can’t make a huge pasta meal with it. If you wanted to do that you’d have to do smaller batches at a time.
Because of it’s long shape you can use spaghetti and any other pasta that you had in mind.
The Fasta Pasta came with a very handy cookbook too which gave you the pasta amount, water amount and cooking time for many varieties of pasta. You can even cook lasagna noodles in the Fasta Pasta!
There are some YUMMY recipes in the cookbook too. So far I have tried…
– Shells with Herb Dressing (in the book it’s listed as Rotini, but I used shells).
– Pasta E Fagiloi – I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this recipe! This is my favorite!
– Pasta Primavera (you can change the recipe to suit your tastes).
– Mac & Cheese (my kids favorite).
There several other recipes I have yet to try but I have plans on making them, especially the lasagna. You can even cook potatoes and CAKE in the Fasta Pasta too! I’m afraid to make the cake because I know I’d want to eat it all myself. LOL!
My only “issue” with the Fasta Pasta is the water lines, but like I said earlier in the post just play around with it and it will work out fine. Other then that you might want to put something underneath it (a plate?) because sometimes the water can boil out of it a bit and you don’t want a mess in your microwave. Pasta is a starch which makes the water a bit sticky when it boils out on to the microwave.
Be careful because the water can be boiling hot when you remove it from the microwave. Also, don’t cook with the lid on. That is for draining the water and for measuring.
The Fasta Pasta has become a regular in the kitchen. All week long I’m finding reasons to use it, especially when it comes to lunch for myself.
The Fasta Pasta if available at many retail locations as well as online at Amazon (it’s cheaper on Amazon compared to the Fasta Pasta web site).
