I love chocolate. I really, really, REALLY love chocolate. So much so I almost always have at least one piece of chocolate per day. Usually I enjoy it at night after dinner. It’s a little treat for myself at the end of the day. If I am having a stressful day I will have a few pieces of chocolate. Chocolate has a way of soothing my nerves and helping me to relax. No kidding!
I’m not referring to the type of chocolate you get from the grocery store. I tend to go for more gourmet chocolate.
A while back I learned about the newest scholastic trend – snacks that do more, like Functional Chocolate for Focus & Productivity.
I think traditional learning is all over the place these days. I work with K-6th graders and it’s just crazy what they have to do in a typical day. They have to do this worksheet, work in that book, and go online to a website to do even MORE work. Even kids in kindergarten are slapped with a lot of homework.
I don’t know how the older students handle all the craziness (high school and college students).
The brand Brainy Functional Chocolate supports focus and productivity with a combination of ethically sourced chocolate and trusted botanicals like ginkgo biloba, rhodiola and a blend of amino acids.
Functional Chocolate has a line of chocolate bars that can help you with a variety of situations such as stress, energy, to help you sleep, and even to help you feel sexy.

Each gourmet chocolate bar contains ingredients whose properties are known to help with issues. To give you an example, the Energy Chocolate Bar.
With a combination of Chocamine®, a patented cocoa-based ingredient shown to provide sustained energy without jitters, alongside a blend of vitamins, taurine, L-Tyrosine, schizandra berry and green tea extract, Energy Chocolate offers a full day boost without the side effects associated with many other types of energy supplements.
Functional Chocolate was kind enough to send me a few bars to try out for myself. I received Energy, Sleepy, Carefree and Brainy.
First and foremost, the chocolate bars taste amazing! They taste really fresh, as if they were just made at the chocolatier shop in town. They don’t taste “stale.” Who knows how long a store bought chocolate bar has been sitting on a shelf when you buy it.
From what I can tell, the ingredients used to make these bars are natural. In addition, Function Chocolate is…

Do they work? I would say YES! Case in point, I have written six blog posts today. I haven’t written that many in one day in months. I honestly feel like I drank a couple of cups of coffee, but the last time I had coffee was 5:30 AM this morning.
I took a serving of the Functional Chocolate Energy (2 squares) about two hours ago, in place of my afternoon coffee. I honestly feel BETTER and more awake then I would with a cup of coffee.
Physically I feel tired (that’s just how my body is) but wow! My brain is certainly wide awake. I could easily write a few more blog posts today (I won’t, but I have the energy to do so).

I tired the Sleepy Chocolate the other night when I couldn’t fall asleep. Normally I take melatonin, but I took the Sleepy Chocolate instead. It took me a bit to dose off, but I eventually did.
Unlike when I take melatonin, I didn’t wake up feeling groggy. Melatonin kicks my butt when I take it. I have a hard time waking up in the morning and I feel horrible. The Sleepy Chocolate didn’t make me feel that way. Dare I say I felt like I had a good night’s sleep, even though I didn’t fall asleep until late (I took the chocolate around 1:00 AM and I had to brush my teeth again).
There is no aftertaste with any of the chocolate. If anything it leaves me craving more. I could seriously eat an entire bar in one shot, but I know I can’t.
The serving size is two (2) bars, and there are three (3) servings per bar.

I would much rather enjoy a couple of pieces of delicious chocolate than swallow a supplement.
I’m not the only one who loves these amazing chocolates. Visit the Function Chocolate website and check out what others have to say. If you would like to read other’s reviews, or check out all the chocolates offered, visit FunCho.co. Notice that it’s .co, and not .com.
You can also find the brand on social media. Their links are found on the bottom right of their website.
What do you think about Functional Chocolate? Would you like to try some for yourself? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
