Do you ever get bored with the foods that you are eating? Me and my family sure do. It seems like we eat the same foods week after week.
I hate to admit it but I often rely on pre-made foods. I rather not, but there are times when I am pressured for time and need to whip up a quick meal.
It’s always been a dream of mine to have my very own gourmet chef. Not only could my family have delicious, gourmet meals night after night (and different meals each week!), but I could also make sure that the meals were healthy and made with real ingredients and not pre-made “gunk.”
I highly doubt we will ever have our own personal chef, so all I can hope for is some extra time and great cookbooks where I can learn to make new thing. In the mean time it IS possible to enjoy healthy, gourmet meals from Veestro.
Veestro delivers 100% plant-based, organic, non-GMO, chef-prepared entrees, soups and juices. Their service is available nationwide. It’s like having your own personal chef without the expense of one.
According to Veestro;
Plant-based diets naturally promote weight loss, resulting in long term sustainable weight loss. They are low in saturated fats, high in fiber, and reduce excess cholesterol intake. And while it is always possible to overeat on high-calorie foods, this is much harder to pull off on a plant-based diet. Fruits and vegetables contain mostly water, keeping you feeling full without consuming a lot of calories. They are also rich in antioxidants, plant sterols, phytochemicals, and potassium, which are all thought to reduce the risk of heart disease (just another perk of a plant-based diet!)
The folks at Veestro understand that not everyone has the time to cook, they know you are busy, but they also know that you want to eat a wholesome and nutritious meal. At Veestro everything is made fresh, using all-natural ingredients, no preservatives or animal products. You won’t have to worry about recipes, shopping or cooking. You don’t calculate ‘points,’ keep track of calories, or play games. You just grab a Veestro meal from the fridge or freezer, heat and eat. It’s that easy!
Veestro is now REAL Certified. This means they have met certain criteria in the following categories: Responsible, Epicurean, Agricultural, and Leadership. http://eatreal.org.
Veestro sent me some meals to try out for myself.
I will admit that some of the foods sounded kind of “odd,” and possibly foods I might not enjoy. Thankfully I’m always open to trying out new things and I went into this with an open mind.
Some of the meals I received I knew I would like such as;
- Veggie Lasagna
- Tuscan Calzone
- Veggie Empanadas
- Veggie Patty Burger
- Hearty Vegetable Bean Soup
- Three Layer Scramble
- Enchilada Casserole
- Thai Chicken Stew
- Savory Croquettes with Veggie Hash
Some sounded a bit unusual and I wasn’t sure I would like them, most especially tofu. I am not a fan of tofu. I also have never had quinoa before so I didn’t know what to expect. Some of the more unique ones include;
- Kale & Quinoa with Tempeh Bites
- Red Curry with Tofu and Veggies
- Golden Chickpea Stew with Quinoa
The meals are made fresh and then frozen for shipment (with the dry ice). Meals should be kept in the freezer, and will last up to 8 weeks in the freezer without compromising flavor or quality. If you choose to keep then in the refrigerator, they will last about a week or two.
The foods from Veestro are easy to prepare. Just pop them in the microwave or oven and enjoy them when they are heated up.
This is “clean eating.” These meals are not made with man-made ingredients or gunk that you can’t pronounce, let alone know what they are. Veestro makes sure to include all the ingredients on every meal. The great thing about these meals is that each and every ingredient I knew what it was. There were no mysteries or surprises.
Admittedly I don’t know what Tamari is (I assume it’s a spice), but the rest of the ingredients found on the meals I received to review I understood.
There were some meals that I absolutely loved, and there were some meals that I didn’t really like. But that is OK. That is why Veestro has different meal options with their Ala Carte section. That allows consumers to order the meals they want.
I think the reason why some of the meals didn’t appeal to me because I am not used to the ingredients. Take for example Quinoa. It’s all new to me so I am not used to the flavor or texture. I think that is an ingredient that would have to grow on people. I’m sure it’s an acquired taste.
The meals do taste freshly made. They don’t have that bland frozen pre-made meal taste to them. After you prepare them and put them on a plate they look as if you made them.
Clean, wholesome eating is not for everyone. It’s something you’d want to ease yourself into. It’s certainly worth considering because healthy eating is so much better for you and your family.

Veestro has different meal options including the Ala Carte mentioned above where you choose your own meals. They also offer “Meal Packs” including Gluten-Free meals and High protein meals. They also offer a 21 day “kick start” option and for those of you who love juicing, they offer juices too.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Veestro sent me some juices to try out too. One was called Johnny Appleseed which was very good. The other flavor (I totally can’t remember what it was called at the moment) wasn’t as appealing to me. It was green in color and I think that is what threw me off. I am not used to the idea of drinking something green.
Veestro might not be “budget friendly” for many people, but if you are interested in eating real foods it’s nice to “get your feet wet,” so to speak, by eating meals from Veestro.
What do you think about Veestro? Does it sound like something you would like to try? Are you into clean eating? Feel free to share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
