The older I get, the more I regret not taking better care of my skin in my younger years. To be honest, I didn’t really start to think about things like serums, moisturizers, masks and the like until I was in my 40’s – YES! Forties! Ugh! What a fool I am.
I can still remember going to be with a full face of make up in when I was in my late teens and early 20’s. Moisturizer was no part of my vocabulary. If I had a dry spot on my face I’d just slap some Vaseline on it. Cleanser? The same soap I used to wash my hands was good enough. Oh! Just thinking about it makes me cringe!
Part neglect, part aging… my skin needs some serious attention. For that reason I am always open to reviewing beauty products, especially things that will make my skin look and feel better.
I’m slowly learning the value of a serum.
If you are not familiar with serums, this doctor offers the best description.
Serums are light, easily absorbed oil- or water-based liquids that you spread on your skin. They typically come in small bottles with a dropper, and you only need a few drops to treat your whole face.
A skin serum is not a moisturizer, like a lotion or cream, says Dr. Abigail Waldman, instructor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Rather, they are highly concentrated formulations that are designed to sink into the skin quickly, delivering an intensive dose of ingredients that can address common skin complaints. “I definitely recommend serums for anyone who is concerned about aging. It’s a really good way to get extra anti-aging effects, more than your typical moisturizer and sunscreen,” says Dr. Waldman. – Harvard Medical School.
I’ve tried a few serums, and I must say, they are a vital part of a proper skin care routine. .
A while back I received a serum from the brand Ambered Ember. It’s not just any old serum. Ambered Ember is a plumping serum.
As you age, your skin loses it’s “plumpness.” I didn’t think that would happen to me, especially being overweigh. Trust me, even a plus size person like me can lose plumpness in their facial skin.
Here is some additional information about the product.
Don’t let time and age steal your natural glow. Ambered Ember is the ultimate support to your radiant self. Created and packaged in Florida, Ambered Ember was born from the belief that the glow of youth is worth preserving. Made entirely with only natural ingredients, the secret to Ambered Ember’s Plumping Serum is their key ingredients. By using silica to bind degenerating tissue layers, Apricot oil to hydrate skin, and L-Arginine to boost circulation, their serum promotes immediate and long-term regeneration benefits. Ambered Ember knows that boosting your skin’s natural moisture and protective barrier is crucial to achieving that youthful glow. No more dry skin or dull faces looking back at you in the mirror.
- Smooth to apply

- Gluten and cruelty free
- Great for all skin types
First and foremost, I love the packaging. I like it. The serum comes in a nicely made, sturdy cardboard cylinder.
The bottle it’s self is interesting too. The part you push down on is round and flat, and there is a small opening on it which releases the serum. Make sure you have the opening by your hand. If not, the serum will come out into the air or on your clothing (I found that out the hard way – ha ha).
You only need one pump to cover your whole face. A little bit goes a long way.
I really like this serum. It’s not greasy or sticky. I glides on smoothly and absorbs super quick. By the time I put the pump back in the medicine cabinet, the product is pretty much entirely absorbed. That is how fast it takes.
It’s hard to tell if the skin on my face looks “plumper,” but I do think this product is making positive changes on my skin.
My skin looks so much better. I won’t say “glowing,” but I do have a health radiance, with or without make up.
I don’t know if it’s a result of using this serum or not, but the texture of my skin looks and feels better. My skin feels great to the touch.

I can wear just this serum and a moisturizing product (with sunscreen) out and about, even with no make up on. I feel like my skin looks and feels too nice to add make up on top.
I really like this product. It’s a vital part to my AM and PM beauty routine.
Often, I receive product to review that I become a huge fan of that I end up purchasing the products again and again long after my review is over. THIS is one of those products. I have no doubt that once I am done with the bottle I was sent to review that I’ll purchase another bottle. Thankfully this product is “budget friendly” ($38).
