When you think of the Fourth of July what are some things that come to mind? Hot dogs? Fireworks? Party? The colors Red, White and Blue?
One thing that might not come to mind – but should – are our country’s veterans.
The Fourth of July represents our country’s freedom. Without the brave men and women who fought hard for our country – and still do today – we wouldn’t be celebrating the holiday.
Did you know that BAND-AID has been helping out country’s military with wound care since the Spanish-American War of 1898. Who knew the brand was around for so long.
Fun facts – During WW II, BAND-AID employees delivered first aid packages to GI’s stationed far from home. They also created many new products to aid our troops include a strong, cloth based adhesive seal which most people know today as duct tape.
BAND-AID has now introduced a new line called Our Veteran Heroes BAND-AID Brand Adhesive Bandages. The new bandages feature colorful patriotic and military inspired designs.
For each package that is sold, 5% of the purchase price will be donated to Team Red, White and Blue.
Team Red, White and Blue is an organization that veterans reconnect with their communities through physical and social activities such as relay races and other activities.
Here is a brief video that explains more about the organization.
BAND-AID is proud to sponsor Team Red, White and Blue’s Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay. This year, from September 11 to November 9, 2014 participating runners will carry the American Flag 3,800 miles across the country to help raise funds and awareness for veteran communities in the U.S. You can visit the Old Glory Coast to Coast Relay even page for more information closer to the event start time.
During the summer months families try and be as active as possible. Whether you are riding bikes, hiking, swimming or just hanging out in your backyard, “boo-boo’s” happen. We always joke around with our kids telling them that you are not having as much fun as you can as a kid without some bumps and bruises and even a scar or two, then we proceed to flash our scars and tell our kids how we “earned” each little “badge”.
Cuts and scratches happen, that is why you should always be prepared. Makes sure you have a well stocked first aid kit including plenty of BAND-AID bandages in various sizes. BAND-AIDS are available in many kid friendly designs too.
This summer, as you are packing for the beach, park or baseball game be sure to keep BAND-AIDS on hand with all your other essentials.
Please keep the military themed BAND-AIDS in mind too because your purchase will help support our veterans.
