Growing up I was always very fond of reading. I read A LOT as a child. Sadly, as a working adult, I don’t have the time to read as much as I’d like to.
I love reading, especially as a child, because reading books took me to far off places around the world, universe and time. I could read a book about ancient Egypt, then the next book would be about a horse, followed up with a book about our solar system. Fiction, non-fiction, educational… I loved all kinds of books. I would even read the encyclopedia just for the fun of it and because I truly loved to learn.
Imagine if you could read a book and bring what you read to life? That sounds crazy, but you can! Or at least your child can with Pop Out! books from duopress.
Pop Out! books encourage young children to play, build and learn.
Pop Out! books are sturdy board books that are fun to read (and educational). Inside each book you’ll find pieces that pop out and can be assembled together to make 3D “toys” your child can play with (no glue or scissors needed).

Currently titles include;
- Pop Out! Space Travel
- Pop Out! Around the World
- Pop Out! Dinosaurs
I was sent a copy of each of these books to check out for myself.

This sturdy board book features great information on six amazing dinosaurs alongside pages with chunky press-out pieces that can be used to build prehistoric beasts, from a fierce velociraptor to a giant brachiosaurus. Readers will learn that the T-Rex lived in the cretaceous period and build this dino alongside gigantic dinosaurs’ eggs. On the triceratops page, they learn about its horns and frills before building this amazing dino.

This sturdy board book features great information on six cities around the world alongside pages with chunky press-out pieces that can be used to build famous landmarks and other city symbols. Readers can learn about New York and build the Brooklyn Bridge and an iconic hot dog cart. In the London pages, they can build a classic double-decker red bus and Big Ben, while with Beijing, kids will learn about and build the Great Wall of China and a wonderful panda bear. Other cities included in the book are Mexico City, Tokyo, and Sydney, where readers can build the Opera House and a kangaroo from the Taronga Zoo.

This sturdy board book is chock-full of information about a space mission alongside pages with chunky press-out pieces that kids can use to build their space journey. Kids will read about the different steps on a fun space mission, from training to returning to Earth. Tots will have a blast building the astronaut’s suit and an awesome rocket, as well as making the Space Station and bringing to life the way astronauts live and work in space. They will love constructing their own space vehicle and will surely enjoy building the space capsule that will bring the space crew back to Earth!
Each book has thick, heavy duty pages. Within the pages of the book you’ll find fun facts and easy-to-understand information about the subject matter of the book.

Sprinkled throughout the pages of the books you’ll find shaped cut outs that can be easily removed from the pages. There is a “groove” next to each piece making it easy for your finger (or little fingers) to pop the piece off the page.
Along side the pieces you’ll find other pieces to attach to the bottom of the main piece to help it to stand up on it’s own.
Essentially the pieces in these books turn into 3D puzzle-like pieces that children can enjoy playing with. They can even re-enact the information they read about inside the book.

I didn’t take the pieces out of the books only because I wasn’t sure if they would pop back in when not in use. I don’t see why they wouldn’t, but I didn’t want to take that chance. That is because I donated the books to where I work to use as prizes/incentives for the children.
As you can see from my photos, the information found within the pages of the books is simple for children to understand.
The pop out pieces are really cute and I’m sure any child would enjoy playing with.
These books would be great for traveling. They would also make great gifts (stocking stuffers too!).
These books are available on the Sourcebooks website, Read.Sourcebooks.com. Do a search on their website for Pop Out! and you’ll find the books. They are sold individually.
What a fun idea. I wonder why no one thought of it sooner.
