My family resides in a shoebox sized condo (a whopping 900 square feet). I have two children, four cats and a psycho dog who thinks he’s a cat. Even with a small home I’m constantly cleaning up something. Between the kitty litter that seems to get EVERYWHERE (they track it around our home on their feet) to the little dust bunnies and miscellaneous things my kids end up getting on the floor, there is always something I need to tend to.
Most recently our home has been over run by tiny star confetti. Our daughter’s friend gave her a gift and inside was silver star shaped confetti. The box has been thrown away but the little stars are showing up EVERY WHERE! No matter how much I vacuum these little bugger keep popping up.
We have a bag less vacuum. I won’t mention the brand but lets just say I’m NOT overly happy with it. Had we known the vacuum was such a waste of money we would have never purchased it. We also have a small rechargeable vacuum (Shark) that I use in the kitchen and dining room to vacuum up crumbs and kitty litter. However its not good on our carpet and it certainly cannot get into tiny spaces.
I find it very inconvenient to have to dig the vacuum out of the closet, remove the hose and attach the special attachments just to do a quick vacuuming on the furniture or under the heating unit. Our primary vacuum is very heavy and awkward. I much rather have something more portable and light weight.
About a month ago I received a Kenmore Evo from Sears. This futuristic looking hand held vacuum is exactly what I have been needing for those quick touch ups that I need around the house. Its so light weight and portable that I can bring it with me from room to room and get all the vacuuming done that I need to in between the times I use the bigger vacuum for the carpet.
Most recently my husband was changing the light bulbs in the lamp. He accidentally dropped it and the light bulb hit the base of the lamp and shattered into a million little shards of glass. With kids and pets around I needed to get it picked up ASAP.
I quickly grabbed for the Kenmore Evo and plugged it in. Since the area where the glass was wasn’t easy to reach my husband he to do it since he has longer arms. The Evo was able to pick up the glass from under the heating unit and the bed as well as all over the carpet. The Evo’s handle made is easy to control and better able to reach things. The hose on the bigger vacuum would have been more awkward to maneuver in that small area. I find that the hoses are not as easy to control unless you hold them at the very end near the opening. That would have been almost impossible to do with the area that we needed to get the glass from.
I have found the Kenmore Evo to be especially handy when it comes to vacuuming under the chair cushion, getting the lint and dust from under the heating unit and even reaching behind the toilet in the bathroom to get strands of hair that end up on the floor.
Getting all the dog and cat hair off of the furniture has been a cinch with the Evo. Plus it has helped me to keep up with the needles that fall off the Christmas tree. Our regular vacuum cannot get under the tree. The Evo on the other hand fits perfectly under the tree.
Its the ideal device to have for on the spot cleaning.
One of my favorite features of the Evo is the handle that goes along the top. Other hand held vacuums you hold from the end. I feel that having the handle along the top gives me better control.
The Kemore Evo might be a small machine but it has A LOT of power. This one sucks as well as our larger vacuum does. Other hand held vacuums I have owned in the past do “OK” as far as suction is concerned but the Evo, by far, out powers the competition.
The Evo features a bagless canister that is very easy to clean. Simply pop it open and pour out the contents in the garbage. It is also big enough to put your hand inside of it if you want to wipe it clean on the inside.
This vacuum even has “feet” to help it stand up when you put it away after each use. You don’t have to worry about it rolling around in the closet.
To be honest the only thing about the Evo that I consider a “con” is that it needs to be plugged in. Sometimes it’s not always convenient to plug it in. Some areas of my home have outlets that are hard to reach or that have other things plugged in it already. Although I would prefer a cordless hand held vacuum I guess its needed to provide the strong suction power that it has. I can’t imagine a cordless vacuum with that much suction power.
There is something very special about the Evo too. It can connect to other Kenmore attachments for the larger vacuums. It connects to canister attachments to provide you with more versatile cleaning options.
We do not have a Kenmore vacuum (I wish we did! Our vacuum stinks!). However I have seen images of the Evo with the Kenmore attachments and I can see how this one little unit can provide you with a variety of cleaning options. Who ever thought of this idea I must say it’s brilliant! Now you no longer have to drag out your larger Kenmore vacuum. All you need are the attachments and the Evo can do the work of the full size vacuum quickly and easily.
The Kemore Evo is available at Sears locations and online. It retails for $79.99.
