Shh…don’t tell anyone that my ‘tween daughter is playing with a DOLL. I’m not sure if she wants the world to know (too late…LOL) but she is crazy over her Liv Doll called Katie. Some of you might have seen the commercials for the Liv World dolls on TV. They are Barbie-type dolls (a bit larger) and are really pretty. Check out the above video in case you have never seen it before.
My daughter LOVES the Katie Liv Doll. Her favorite feature about the doll are the wigs. They have the coolest wigs that actually attach to the dolls head. You can cut them, curl them and create funky looks with them too. The wigs are about $6 so you can pick up different ones to create different looks for your Liv Doll.
We Katie came with hair (that she was wearing) and a wig. We also have another wig too (a bright pink one). Each wig also have a very nice plastic “dummy” head to rest the wig on (similar to what you would see in a wig store). There is a “post” inside the wigs that fit inside a hole in the dolls head or the wig holder. I had no problem attaching the wig, nor did my daughter.
My daughter keeps asking me for more wigs. She LOVES playing with all the different hair styles. The hair is very nice too. I LOVE her long hair wig. There is just something very relaxing about combing a dolls hair. Even I find myself putting little braids in the Liv Doll’s hair and trying to create new looks (I tried a French Braid but it didn’t work).
The dolls is very “bendy” too. You can contort her body in all different configurations. I think that that makes the doll seem more realistic because you can pose her in much different ways compared to a regular Barbie doll.
The Liv Doll is made very well and frankly I think they are all very pretty. They also come with pretty outfits that are very “trendy” and “hip” by today’s standards.
The Liv Dolls also have their own web site called Liv World (www. LivWorld.com). There is a special code that comes with the dolls, which my daughter mistakenly tossed out, sigh… that allows you access to their web site that will go LIVE today, August 17, 2009. The web site has a lot of fun interactive things you can do with the Liv Doll characters. There are videos, games and more. Of course we’ll never know because the code is lost in the recycling bin somewhere. Ugh! Oh well. I guess we’ll just have to get another Liv Doll. Ha! Not like my daughter would mind that much. She really enjoys the doll and I think if her doll Katie had a “friend” that would be even better.
The Liv World dolls sell online for $19.99 plus shipping. They come with a one year membership to the web site and an extra wig and wig “dummy”. I think it’s a pretty decent price for a quality doll including all the extras. I believe Walmart and Toys R Us will be carrying the dolls as well.
To learn more please visit www.LivWorld.com. These would make a GREAT Christmas gift or birthday gift for the special girl in your life.
