Are you a fan of Target (or Targé as my sister calls it)?
I love to shop there, especially for holiday/seasonal stuff and cleaning supplies (they carry brands I prefer to use).
Are you familiar with Made to Matter – Handpicked by Target? I recently just learned about this program.
Since the inception of Made to Matter – Handpicked by Target, Target has built strong partnerships with purpose-driven brands in the wellness space to make natural, organic and sustainable products more accessible. Inclusion in the Made to Matter program requires each brand to meet one or more criteria, outlined below. Target developed this specific set of standards to guarantee that all products within the Made to Matter assortment are relevant to their guests and friendly to the environment:
- Reduced waste and packaging, which meets the rising consumer demand for eco-friendly products that limit waste. Right now, 50 percent of U.S. waste is comprised of product packaging.
- Closed loop systems, which utilize a production system where the excess of one process or product is used to make another product. U.S. waste has tripled since 1960 and the average U.S. resident produces 1600 pounds of waste but only recycles or composts 35 percent of it.
- Clean label products that are made without additives and harsh chemicals.
- Dietary and allergen restrictions that accommodate the growing commonality of specialized diets and food allergies. According to a study released in 2013 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, food allergies among children increased approximately 50 percent between 1997 and 2011.
- Reduced sugar—plain and simple! In 1822, the average American consumed 45 grams of sugar—the amount found in one of today’s 12-oz. sodas—every five days. Today, the average American consumes that much every seven hours.
“Guests love the Made to Matter collection because it offers them a way to easily discover new products that are better for them, their families and the world around them,” said Jeff Jones, CMO. “In our third year, we wanted to make an even more meaningful impact, so we moved from curator to catalyst and challenged our partners to innovate with five important criteria in mind. The refined approach ensures that our guests can continue to count on Made to Matter to offer a wide variety of new products that truly make a difference.”
I received a box of goodies from Made to Matter – Handpicked by Target. I’m impressed by the assortment I received. It also makes me feel good using these products in my home because I know they have met with strict standards and are better for you than similar products on the market.
Here are the products I received.
Luminous White toothpaste: Illuminate your smile with Tom’s of Maine’s most advanced natural whitening toothpaste. The formula is safe on enamel with a great Clean Mint flavor that helps freshen breath.
Naturally Dry North Woods Men’s Antiperspirant: Have a special guy in your life who is looking to make the switch to natural? Tom’s of Maine is proud to introduce its first antiperspirant for men, which gives you 48-hour odor and wetness protection.
When it comes to putting things in your body, and on your body, you want the most natural products possible. I have been a long time fan of TOMS of Main products. I especially like their toothpastes because they always leave my mouth feeling fresh and clean. The whitening effect is a “bonus” if you ask me. I have nothing really to compare my teeth to, but I think it’s making a difference with the coffee stains/discolorations on my teeth.
My teenage son is using the antiperspirant. So far, so good. He hasn’t had any issues with it and he likes it. As a mom I feel good knowing that he’s using a more natural products on his body.
I haven’t had a chance to use these coupons yet. I’m looking forward to giving them a try.
I never had the opportunity to try these. Both of my kids (teenagers) gobbled them all up before I even had a chance. I would have to assume they were delicious if they were gone in a matter of a day. They sounded like they would have tasted too. Oh well… I’ll have to pick up another box or two the next time I’m at Target.
This smelled so good! It’s a beauty mask that you apply to your face and leave on for a bit so that the ingredients can absorb into your skin. Its made out of paper-like material. I’ve never used anything like this before. I enjoyed it (I’ve only used one so far). It’s not messy and adds some much needed moisturizer to your skin.
So far, so good. We haven’t had any issues with this detergent. Thankfully no one in my home has sensitive skin.
I’m not a fruit snack sort of person, but I did enjoy the fruit snacks from Annies.
The Nature’s Path Chocolate Chip Granola Bar was gone the moment I opened the box. I couldn’t resist it. It was good!
No one has tried the Happy Tot fruit squeeze yet.
I like the Healing Balm. It’s great for my dry hands (I wash my hands A LOT during the day at work). I keep this tube at work so that I have a moisturizer I can apply throughout the day after I wash my hands. I like that it absorbs quickly and it’s not greasy or sticky.
The hand sanitizer is also great. I work with Kindergartners all day long and they are not exactly up on their hygiene yet (we’re still reminding them to wash their hands after they use the bathroom or blow their noses). Every little bit helps when protecting yourself against germs. I can’t afford to get sick.
Delicious!!!! Bananas and Peanut Butter… you can’t go wrong with that. I’m also a big fan of Justin’s products (I love their Peanut Butter Cups!).
I’ve used this only a couple of times so far. I am saving this bottle for work when the one I am currently using from the Honest Company runs out.
I’ve never heard of this brand before.
This is the mascara I am currently using. So far, so good. I’ve not had any issues. It applies well and washes off easily. I haven’t had any “flaking” or “smudging” issues with it at all.
You can twist the lid to give your lashes more length or volume. I’ve tried both ways and I don’t notice a difference. None-the-less it’s still a nice mascara.
I love Method products. It’s one of the brands I shop at Target for.
This is a hand wash. I haven’t used it yet because it’s scented pumpkin and clove and I was holding it until we decorate for Halloween (I figured the scent would be more fitting for then). I can’t wait to use it.
Mrs. Meyers Clean Day is another brand I shop for a Target. I love every product! My favorite is the Pine scent, but that is seasonal. I make sure to stock up on all the Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products I can with that scent. Other favorite scents are Bluebell, Watermelon and Basil.
I’ve never had any issues with any Mrs. Meyers products. I love them all!
I have never heard of this brand before. This is a nice shampoo and conditioner. It has a beautiful, light scent to it.
I have super thick and course hair. This shampoo and conditioner works well with my hair. I’ve noticed that I don’t have issued with knots or tangles. It also leaves my hair feeling soft.
So far I am very pleased with all the products I received from Made to Matter – Handpicked by Target.
If you would like to learn more visit Target’s Made to Matter page on their website. In addition, you can also visit each of the brand’s websites to learn more about them. You can also visit Target.com as well as Target on social media.
I like that Target is showcasing brands and products that are better for you and our environment. I hope they continue to offer these types of products.
Are you familiar with any of the products/brands mentioned above? Do you have a favorite? Is there one you’d love to try? Feel free to share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
