McCormick Virtual Cookie Swap & Cookie Swap Gift Basket Giveaway!

I have wanted to participate in a cookie swap for as long as I can remember. Although I am not a very good baker I would still do my best to bake cookies to participate in a swap. The idea of having dozens of homemade (or semi-homemade) cookies to share with my family and friend throughout the holiday season sounds wonderful. Sadly I have no one I can participate in a cookie swap with. No one that I’m friendly with (local) is interested in something like that.

I love all the delicious cookies that people bake during the holidays. I even love decorated sugar cookies and Gingerbread men. I don’t have the talent (or patience) to decorate cookies like that. Believe me, I have tried over the years but they never turn out nice.

If you participate in cookie swaps, or would love to participate in one like me, then you might be very interested in knowing that tomorrow, December 6, 2010, McCormick will be hosting a Virtual Cookie Swap. You won’t be going home with dozens of cookies that you can eat, but you will walk away with many delicious recipes as well as tips, tricks and other great ideas on how to host, or participate in, a cookie swap.

The host for the Virtual Cookie Swap will be Lauren Chattman. Lauren knows a lot about cookies and baking. She is a graduate of the Professional Baking and Pastry Program at the Institute for Culinary Education in New York City. 

Lauren’s recipes have appeared in such popular publications as Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Metropolitan Home, Redbook, Cook’s Illustrated, and The New York Times. She is also the author of more than a dozen books including a new book called Cookie Swap.

McCormick and Lauren should make a great team. Lauren knows all about cookies, baking and great recipes and McCormick offers many of the extracts and spices you’ll need to make the most delicious cookies ever.

If you are interested in participating in the Virtual Cookie Swap it’s easy to do. All you need to do is “Like” McCormick on Facebook, www.Facebook.com/McCormickSpice. You are welcome to post your favorite cookie recipes on their fan page and interact with others by swapping ideas and tips.

You can also watch the live web cast with Lauren via the Facebook page on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 8:00 PM (EST)/ 7:00 PM (CST). Not only will she offer up recipes, tips and her baking secrets but she’ll also choose a recipe from one of the recipes posted on the fan page to highlight during her show.

  11. I LOVE cookie swaps! I don’t get to participate in one this year as I just moved to a new city. But my favorite cookies to make for swaps are Polvorones, which are similar to Russian Tea Cakes or Mexican Wedding Cakes- a nut shortbread baked as a ball, rolled in powdered sugar. So delicious!

    I think the Spiced Sugar Cookies on the McCormick site sound delicious- would love to try them!

  76. All the recipes sound so good! I am always trying to come up with something yummy to make for Christmas breakfast since our big meal is usually around 2 or 3 pm, so the Cinnamon Crumb Cake recipe would work perfect for me! It sounds delicious!
