The New Year is almost here. Can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday we were decorating for Halloween. Now the stores are filled with Valentine’s Day products. Sigh… time moves too quickly (especially the older you get).
With the New Year comes the dreaded resolutions. Personally, I don’t make resolutions anymore. I haven’t in many years. I find that making resolutions puts a lot of pressure on you to do them, and if you don’t, you feel like a “failure.” At least that is how I’ve always felt. Instead of resolutions, I just tell myself to make better choices, whether it’s what I eat or drink, how I “move” (physically activity) or in my every day life (try to be more organized, try to get more sleep…). That way, if I don’t accomplish something, I don’t feel so bad about it.
The most popular resolutions are eating healthy, losing weight and exercise. If making “better for you” food choices is on your 2022 “to do list,” I have a product that might interest you. It’s called Crepini.
What is Crepini you might ask? The answer is simple, they are tortilla-like wraps made out of eggs.
- No sugar
- No dairy
- No gluten
- No carbs
- Low calorie
- All natural
- Grain free
- Great for Keto and Paleo diets
Here is the nutritional information for one of the Grande (large) Crepini wraps.
Currently Crepini is available in
- Petite Egg Wraps with Cauliflower
- Petite Egg Wraps with Gluten-Free Grains
- Petite Egg Wraps with Sweet Potato and Tumeric
- Grande Egg Wraps with Cauliflower
- Grande Egg Wraps with Gluten-Free Grains
I was sent some Crepinis to review. I received both the regular and the cauliflower wraps.
If you are not a fan of cauliflower, don’t worry. There is not too much of a difference in taste. They don’t taste like cauliflower, at least not to me.
Here is a picture of the Petite packaging, and the Grande packaging, so you can get an idea of the difference in size. The Petite is good for individual servings, and the Grande would be better for larger meals or multiple people.
For all intensive purposes, these are tortilla wraps. Anything you make with tortilla wraps, you can make with Crepini wraps.
I make breakfast wraps with tortilla (scrambled eggs, cheese, ham and/or bacon, onions and peppers). It makes sense to make a breakfast wrap with an egg wrap. It’s only adds to the flavor.
In addition, I like to spread peanut butter on tortillas and wrap up sliced apples or bananas to make a health snack. I was concerned that using one of these wraps would change the taste (making it more savory than sweet0, but honestly , that wasn’t the case at all.
These wraps taste great. I have even eaten them “as is” with nothing on them. It’s a quick snack for me. I have also spread peanut butter on them, as well as Nutella. Both options tasted great.
These are very pliable. I was concerned they wouldn’t wrap up as well as a traditional tortilla, but they roll up just as well. They didn’t split or fall apart. In fact, they wrap up very tightly (if you want them to) because they are very thin.
Here is one of the Petite wraps rolled up next to a standard size pen.
These remind me of deli cup meats. They are thin and when you peel them off of each other, it’s almost like peeling deli cup turkey (or something similar) off each other (the slices).
I had weight loss surgery a few years ago (band), and I have a hard time eating certain things – especially bread-like things (flour tortillas one of them). If I don’t chew it well enough it gets “stuck,” which can be painful. Since Crepini wraps are not as “doughy” at regular tortillas, I didn’t have a hard time eating these at all.
If you think wraps such as Crepini are only good for breakfast or burritos, you are wrong. I thought that way too, until I visited the Crepini website. WOW! They have so many awesome recipes on their site that utilize their wraps. The recipes include;
- Cranberry Eggnog Crepes
- Maple Bacon Crepes
- Ricotta & Coppa Toast
- Scallion Pancakes
- Rueben Rolls
- Antipasto Bites
- South Western Egg Rolls
- Barbecue Chicken Pizza
- Baked Brie
- Apple Pie Turnovers
There are literally dozens of delicious sounding recipes on the Crepini website. I was pleasantly surprised by all the yummy things you can make with them.
I really wanted to make the Barbecue Chicken Pizza, but I never had the chance to make them. My kids used up all the Crepinis on me. Apparently they enjoyed them just as much as I did. That’s okay because Crepini is available both online, and at our local Costco. In fact, Crepini egg wraps are available at several retail locations across the country. Costco, Ralphs, Stew Leonards’, Food 4 Less, Kroger, Walmart, Aldi, Sam’s Club, Publix and Sprouts Farmers Market are just a few retailers that carry Crepini products.
If your plan in 2022 is to eat healthy (or healthier), you should try Crepini wraps. They are a “better for you” option that you can utilize in some many ways – from eating “as is” to making Fettuccini Alfredo (no kidding – the recipe is on their site too!).
If you are interested in learning more about Crepini, visit them online at Crepini.com. The brand can also be found on social media. All of those links are found on the bottom of the brand’s website.
Do you use tortilla wraps? What do you use them for? Would you be interested in trying a Crepini wrap instead? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
