Now available On Demand, and in select theaters in the Los Angeles, California area, is the suspenseful movie, 15 Cameras.
The film stars Will Madden, Angela Carbone, James Babson, Hilty Bowen, Shirley Chen and Hannah McKechnie.
When Cam and Sky bought their duplex, it seemed like the perfect investment opportunity for the young couple; a starter home, a mortgage offset by renters, and even a guest room for Sky’s sister, Carolyn. But as Sky and Cam slowly uncover hidden cameras and secrets of the duplex’s previous owner, obsession consumes their marriage and they both fall into destructive forms of voyeurism. When new tenants move in downstairs, their fixation with observing others has deadly consequences and they are forced to confront the very things they have been consumed by.
One of my worst fears when I am staying at a hotel is hidden cameras. Not ones put there by the hotel it’s self, but ones that could be installed by prior guests or even hotel staff.
Technology is so incredible these days that you can hide a hidden camera in the tiniest thing and you would never know it. It’s not just scary, but terrifying to think of who can be watching you at any given time. This is especially concerning to me as a mom. I don’t know who is watching and video taping my children, most especially my daughter. It’s a scary world we live in.
When I first saw the trailer for this film, it looked interesting. But I know from reviewing probably hundreds of movies over the years, the trailers can sometimes be better than the film its self. That is because film makers make sure to include the best parts of a film in the trailer to piqued people’s interests and make them want to see the film. I have fallen for that tactic more times than I care to remember.
When I watched the trailer for 15 Cameras I thought to myself that it was probably going to be better than the film. Still, I was interested enough to want to do a review. To my surprise, the film did not disappoint. It was just as interesting and the trailer.
This film was not only interesting, but entertaining too. It literally had me guessing until the very end what was going to happen to the characters.
Overall the acting was pretty good, especially for actors I have never seen or heard of before. They are not first time actors. They have all appeared in films before, just not films I have personally seen.
I liked the storyline. It was different. These days a lot of storylines are just different versions of the same thing we’ve seen in other films. I like that 15 Cameras was different. It’s a unique storyline. I also like that it’s something that could happen in real life.
The film did leave me with some unanswered questions, most especially the ending. The ending is something the viewer has to come up with themselves (I won’t give away any spoilers).
I do not recall what the rating is for this film. I would think rated PG-13 or rated R. I don’t recall there being any nudity, even though Cam does spy on his college age female tenants.
The film has a run time of about 90 minutes. It’s a decent length for this film (not too long).
Look for 15 Cameras at a theater near you, as well as On Demand.
Below is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
