Now available on digital is Disney’s Lilo & Stitch. The film will be made available on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K UHD on August 26, 2025.
Disney’s Lilo & Stitch has officially crossed $1 billion at the global box office, making it the first Motion Picture Association (MPA) title of 2025 to reach the milestone. Following its record-breaking $183 million Memorial Day weekend debut, the film has become the year’s top-grossing MPA release both worldwide and internationally. Its success has reignited global interest in the franchise, with related content on Disney+ now surpassing 640 million hours viewed. A sequel is currently in development.
The film stars Sydney Agudong (Nani), Maia Kealoha (Lilo) and Chris Sanders as the voice actor for Stitch. Zach Galifianakis voices the character of Jumba and Tia Carrere appears as Mrs. Kekoa.
I will admit that it’s been a “million years” (so it seems) since I have seen the original Lilo & Stitch movie (the fully animated one from 2002.I don’t remember all that much about it except Lilo finds Stitch, whose a bit of a handful, something about Elvis Presley and they liked to surf. So it’s safe to assume that I don’t remember much at all, so seeing this film was almost like seeing the story of Lilo & Stitch for the first time. I think this is great for people like me, or young kids, who have never seen the film before to be introduced to another Disney classic.
Lilo & Stitch is a movie about a runaway alien creature (Stitch) who crash lands on Earth (Hawaii) where he meets a young girl name Lilo who recently lost her parents. She lives with her older sister Nani who is struggling to keep them afloat while trying to keep them together. Just like Stitch, Lilo is also a handful for Nani, making it difficult for her to keep them from being torn apart.
Set in the beautiful island of Hawaii, this film showcases the Hawaiian culture and tradition. The core of this film is the true meaning of family, friendship and the ties the bind us.

Prepare yourself for all the chaos that Stitch brings to his new friend, at the same time becoming “ohana” with Lilo (Ohana is the Hawaiin word for family).
I’m used to how Lilo looked in the fully animated version. Our niece looked EXACTLY like that version of Lilo, right down to her chubby cheeks. It took me a bit envisioning Miss Kealoha as Lilo, but as the movie went on, I can see why those chose her for the part. Another words, initially I didn’t see her as Lilo, but at the film went on she became the Lilo I remembered.
I think the casting for Nani was spot on. That’s exactly how I remembered her character to be.
The creatures did a fantastic job recreating Stitch too. It’s exactly as if the animated version came alive.
Kudos to the film makers for making the CGI (?) elements work so seamlessly with the real life people and scenes. I tell you, movie magic is getting better and better. It amazes me how flawlessly movie makers can combine real life people and elements with digitally created things and have it all look so real.
As for the movie it’s self, I enjoyed it a lot. I’m glad I had the opportunity to see it. I felt like the pace of it was great and it kept my interest from start to finish. It had plenty of funny moments as as heartwarming ones.
This film has a run time of 1 hour and 48 minutes. I honestly thought it might be too long for young viewers, but I think there is more than enough going on in the film to keep their interest from start to finish. The film is rated PG.
