Now available on DVD and digital is the thriller/drama film, F.E.A.R.
F.E.A.R is released by New Era Entertainment.
The film stars Marci Miller (Sinister Savior, Children of the Corn: Runaway) Jason Tobias (Downrange, The Competition, The Unravelling, Ocean’s Rising, Most Likely to Die, David and Goliath),Justin Dray (Boost, Ad Astra), Danny Druiz (Mighty Oak), and Cece Kelly (Big Freaking Rat, Through the Glass Darkly, Nation’s Fire).
F.E.A.R stands for “Forget Everything and Run.”
It’s a post-apocalyptic world. A deadly virus has forced survivors to move to desolate regions of the country in order to survive. The infected are drawn to heat and fire, so survivors head to where it’s the coldest.
A young family, headed by Ethan and his wife Jo, are doing the best they can to survive along with their two children, Josh and Mia. Mia is seen for most of the film lying in a bed with an oxygen mask on her face. One can only assume she’s very sick (the reason for it becomes apparent later on in the film).
Trying to survive has taken it’s toll on everyone, including Ethan and Jo’s marriage. It’s not that they don’t love each other, it’s just that when you are forced into survival mode 24/7, things like love take a backseat.
Supplies are low, and anyone who is not infected is out to find them.
One day a group of bandits find their way to the home that Ethan and his family are hiding out in. They break in and it seems like the family is doomed, but luckily they are able to fight them off, and win.
The bandits tell them that they have supplies in their camp. Ethan sets out with one of the captured bandits to go to their camp and to collect their supplies. The other bandits stay behind with Jo.
Sometimes the infected are not as worse as the living, and it’s the living that you need to be fearful for the most.
Will this family ever survive? Will they defeat the other survivors and be able to collect the supplies their family needs to survive? To find out, you need to purchase or rent F.E.A.R. Look for it where ever movies are sold or rented.
I don’t know if this film is listed as a horror film. I would not consider it that. Even the infected people are not that scary. There are a couple of “jump scares,” but not enough (in my eyes) to call it a horror movie. I would consider this more of a thriller/drama.
Overall the storyline was good. It’s not original, but it did have it’s own little unique spin on it (mainly their daughter, Mia).
The infected are not scary looking. It’s not like they are covered in blood and guts and oozing slime off their bodies. For the most part, they look like regular people who have gone insane.
Overall the acting was pretty good.
The film kept my attention. It was a bit slow and predictable at times, but none the less, I was interested to see how the film progressed and ended.
I did not suspect the ending of the film, so kudos to the film maker for that.
There is a great quote at the end of the film that I liked. It sums out the movie very well.
If you see the film, you’ll understand why this quote is appropriate for it.
Below is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
