I am a huge fan of paranormal videos. Ghost and cryptids really fascinate me. Granted, most of the “so called” ghost videos you find on YouTube (especially the ones from paranormal investigators) are fake (some really good quality fakes too), there are a few I’ve seen over the years that have left me scratching my head. I especially love paranormal videos from people whose YouTube channels do NOT feature a plethora of paranormal videos.
My favorite YouTuber for cool, paranormal and creature videos is Nukes Top 5.
Coming to all digital platforms today (July 22, 2022) and on the Terror Films Channel July 29, and on Kings of Horror on August 5th, is the “found footage” horror film, Infrared.
Infrared is a way of filming things in the dark, so that you are able to see things more clearly.
Infrared was directed by Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr., and stars Jesse Janzen, Leah Finity, and Lori Richardson.
Says directors Robert Livings & Randy Nundall Jr.
“Infrared is first and foremost a horror film, but at its heart, is a movie about siblings reconnecting in a time of need. Often in horror films, we find ourselves rooting for the characters we don’t like to die, so it was important for us to develop characters that we wanted to survive, creating a larger emotional investment for those watching. With this intention in mind, we set out to wholly develop their backstories and create a believable connection. From there we tackled the darker themes and scares within the film, workshopping ideas with our actors, and giving them the freedom of collaboration within our improvisational process.
This film is injected with humor, tension and scares, and we really hope that nobody finds an owner’s manual in their basement.”
I’m normally not a fan of the “found footage” genre. I am also fond of movies done in a person’s point of view (as if you are seeing things through a camera someone is holding). If you are not into these types of films, be forewarned that Infrared is exactly like this.
Wes Wheatley (Janzan) is a paranormal investigator who also dabbles in exorcisms, which he called “deliverance” where he forces a demon to the surface, then expels it from it’s victim.
Performing exorcisms (which is essentially what he’s doing) when you are not a priest is only opening yourself up to something going horribly wrong. Haven’t we learned anything from horror movies? Ha Ha.

Wes’ sister, Izzy, is also into the paranormal, but she’s into something other than demonic possession. Izzy is a medium and prefers to help people connect with their loved ones who have passed on.
Wes and Izzy do not have the best relationship, and their opposite views on the paranormal doesn’t help matters either.
The siblings get the opportunity to do an investigation in an abandoned, haunted school. What they don’t know is that this experience can either bring them closer, or it can lead to deadly consequences.
What happens at the old school? What do they discover? Is it evil, like the types of spirits that Wes encounters? Or is it just someone who is trapped and trying to get a message out to it’s loved ones, like the types of entities that Izzy is accustom to? To find out, check out Infrared. Look for it on digital, as well as the services linked above.
I will give this film credit when it comes to the filming location. There is nothing that adds more tension and fear to a film than a creepy old building. Even though I love horror movies, and paranormal things, you could not pay me enough to go into a place like that for the night – even for a few hours. No way!
Much of the film is dark and seen through the camera, which only adds to the overall creep factor.
The characters are decent too. I was rooting for both of them to make it out alive.
As far as the plot goes, it’s been done many times over. The characters are different, but people doing an investigation in a supposed haunted location is nothing new. I would have liked for there to be something more unique to the story to make it different than other films with the same kind of story line.
Overall I found the film entertaining. As a die hard horror movie fan, I wouldn’t say it was scary FOR ME. For others who are easily spooked, this would be an ideal film for you.
Below is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
