Now available on digital, Blu-ray, DVD and Ultra 4K from Illumination and the creators of Despicable Me, is the heart-warming and hilarious animated feature film, Migration.
Migration stars the voice talents of Elizabeth Banks, Kumail Ali Nanjiani, Danny DeVito, Awkwafina, Carol Kane, Keegan-Michael Key Casper Jennings, and Tresi Gazal.
Mack Mallard (Nanjiani) lives in a beautiful pond surround by mountains and a lush forest. He resides there with his wife Pam (Banks) and two children – son Dax (Jennings) and daughter Gwen (Gazal).
Mack is content to live on the pond where he feels perfectly safe from the outside world and the great unknown. In fact, he tries to scare his children into believing that the outside world is a dangerous place. His wife and son don’t feel the same way as Mack does. They are restless and want to explore what is beyond their little home on the pond.
One day the family meets a traveling flock of ducks who are heading down south (Jamaica to be exact) for the winter. They invite Mack’s family to follow them down there. Mack refuses to go, but something gives him a change of heart, and he and his family, along with Uncle Dan (DeVito) set off on a hilarious adventure while they make their way down south to Jamaica.
Will the family make it to their final destination? Does something prevent them along the way? To find out, check out Migration. Look for it where ever movies are sold/rented.
I knew I would like this film, based on the trailer for it. However, I didn’t know that I would absolutely LOVE this film. It far exceeded my expectations. Then again, Despicable Me is a favorite of mine, and this film comes from that movie’s creators, so it stands to reason that Migration would be equally as wonderful.
First let me start of will the animation. Its truly amazing. The way the animators created the idyllic fall forest where the family’s pond was located blew my mind away. Even the mountains far off in the distance looked so real. I even told my husband that I want to build a house on that pond and live out my “Golden Years” there. Ha Ha.
The part of the film where the family ends up in New York City was equally as stunning. That also looked like the Mallard family was really in the big city. They even put such great though into every single detail that there is one point where the Mallard family is flying past a billboard where it looks like the person on it was going to eat one of the mallards.
I wasn’t overly keen on how odd the character “the Chef” was looked. Everything else in the film looked so real and/or adorable. That character just looked extremely odd. Even so, that didn’t distract from the over all look and feel for the film.
I loved all the characters in this film (except the Chef of course, ha ha). Each and every one of them was so cute and very likeable. Even the crazy looking herrings were so much fun to watch. Every character in this film only added to how charming this film truly is.
I also very much loved the storyline. Its truly a heartwarming and fun story.
This film made both me and my husband laugh too, right up to the very end.
Bright, colorful, fun characters, great storyline, amazing illustration… Migration has it all, and then some!
