Now available on Blu-ray, DVD, Ultra 4K and digital, is the family animated film, Ron’s Gone Wrong. I do believe it was on HBO as well, which I thought was odd.
The film stars the voice talents of Jack Dylan Grazer, Zach Galifianakis, Thomas Barbusca, Kylie Cantrall, Justice Smith, and Ed Helms, to name a few.
Ron’s Gone Wrong is the story about a socially awkward young teen name Barney (Grazer). He’s not like the other kids at his school.
Recently a special robot was introduced to the world that is suppose to help you make friends. It does that, as well as connects everyone to social media. Kids who own one of these bots are all about social media, likes, streaming videos of themselves and more (just like today’s youth). Sadly, Barney does not own one of these bots. He also doesn’t have any friends. Barney feels like if he had a bot too, he’d have friends.
Barney’s dad wants his son to have friends, so he buys him a bot from a guy on the street. The bot, named Ron (Galifianakis), has many glitches and can’t complete it’s downloads. As a result, he’s quirky and nothing like the other bots.
Will Ron be the bridge Barney needs to cross in order to finally have friends, and maybe even a bit popular? Or could Ron have the opposite effect? To find out, you need to purchase or rent Ron’s Gone Wrong. Look for it where ever movies are sold/rented.
This movie touches upon a lot of things – family, friends, society, social media, socially awkwardness and technology.
Ron is ADORABLE, glitches and all. I think everyone needs a Ron in their life. Ron reminds me of what real friendship is. It’s not about the number of followers and likes you get online – and that’s coming from a blogger who also has a social media presence. Sadly, today’s youth equate likes and followers with how popular they are, and think of followers as friends (they are not). A true friend is someone who is always there for you, knows your likes/dislikes, makes you laugh, and has your back – just like Ron.
I think many kids (and adults) can relate to Barney. All of us (I think) at one point or another in their lives has felt like an outsider. I know I sure have.
The film features a “Buddy Bench.” Those are a real thing! I like the idea, but on the flip side, I think that might make someone sitting on the bench waiting for a buddy to feel even worse about themselves, and possibly be the butt of jokes, like Barney was in the film.
Overall I enjoyed the story. It had laughter, heart, and plenty of twists and turns.
The animation is wonderful. It’s very realistic looking.
