Now available on digital is the Disney live action film, Snow White. The film will be available on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and DVD on June 24, 2025.
Snow White stars Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, and Ansu Kabia, to name a few.
I’m pretty sure most people are familiar with the story of Snow White. It was originally written by the Grimm Brothers in 1812, and brought to live with the magic of Disney animation in 1937. Just in case, here is the film’s official synopsis.
Disney’s Snow White is a vibrant live-action musical reimagining of Walt Disney’s groundbreaking full-length animated classic. Experience the timeless adventure as Snow White (Rachel Zegler) journeys into magical woods to escape her stepmother, the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot), and meets the beloved Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc who join her quest to restore the kingdom and bring kindness to the land.
I guess many classic Disney films will be made into live-action films at some point. I “get” where that seems like a great idea, but honestly, I don’t think all animated films need to be made into live-action versions. If you were to ask me the next five animated Disney films to be made into a live-action film, Snow White would not be on that list.
I have heard good, and bad, things about this film prior to watching it. I was also a bit put off by the bad things I heard about how Zegler was dissing the movie during press tours. To be honest, she’s not a favorite actress of mine either. I don’t necessarily think she’s all that great of an actress, but she can sing. She does have a lovely voice.
I am a fan of Gal Gadot. I always joke with my husband that she’s my “girl crush.” I think she’s a very beautiful woman.

I was not keen on Zegler as Snow White. I just didn’t think she looked that much like Snow White. Snow White, to me, has a bright eyed, innocent look to her. There is something about Zegler that made her seem like a harsh version of Snow White, if that makes any sense. I also could not get over her hair. YES, I know that is how Snow White’s hair looks, but it looked rather dorky on Zegler.
On the flip side, I didn’t think Gal Gadot looked like a wicked, evil person. She was dressed like a wicked queen, but in my eyes she looked more like a beautiful queen in dark clothing and a fierce looking crown.
I keep thinking of other actors that might have fit the roles better, but none really come to mind.
I was very surprised that the film makers used CGI characters for the seven dwarves. I was expecting actual people in the role. I found that very surprising.
The cinematography is wonderful. The landscapes, castle, dwarves home all looked exactly as you would expect if you are a fan of the animated film – even better. They were all beautiful.
The animals – although super adorable – didn’t seem realistic enough. It’s as if it was two different films – one that was film with entirely living cast, and the other film made with only CGI characters. This film is a mash-up of the two. If you saw the film perhaps you know the point I am trying to make.
The music was good. I liked the song “Waiting on a Wish.” That was my favorite song in the film. I also think there was a tad bit too many songs in the film. I get that it was a musical, but a few songs less would have worked better for me.

Overall the film was okay. It didn’t blow me away. Would I watch it again? Yes. Would I go out of my way to watch it again? No. I might watch it if I happened across it on television, but I’m not going to put it on.
This film has a run time of an hour and forty-nine minutes and is rated PG.
